This may sound crazy, but it's just an idea. All mods on the repository are free, You can't charge for them unless it's another website. This means people that would make high effort/quality mods won't profit from it. That might look like it's out place(I used inspect element), but the map is extremely big and High effort so asking for a dollar isn't too out of place. About donations: they're extremely generous based, someone could download the mod without even thinking about donating. To make sure this wouldn't be abused(like a sphere prop for 100$), any mods that have a price would be submitted for approval. A staff member would look at the submissions and either approve or deny(quality based). to avoid things being too expensive, the max price can only be 10$. To make it so that the game developers actually profit from the decision, they'd take a revenue cut from every purchase(any percentage). removing and unsubscribing doesn't mean you will have to buy it again, your account can download it later on. trying to buy the mod inside the in game repository opens the web page.
Never seen such mods, we pay and then get the mod wow,,,,, idk becuz in my mind when you really like the map and then purchase it after several months you get bored by this map and then you deleted but again you think of downloading it again but again we gotta purchase the map again,,, This is really not good maybe they have added the purchasing system becuz the author of that map took many years, months or days to create it very detailed. Anyone knows about this situation?
Na Mate, that is amongst the most messed up thoughts i have ever heard. Nobody on this site, let alone on this earth, should have to deal with needless burden about needless yielding their income/earnings for any mods on BeamNG, nor any other website. It is übergreedy and wrong.
Why though? It's also wrong that people put hard work into car mods/maps and are unable to get any reward for it.
How is it greedy ? People put time in these mods, they should be able to get money if they want, just like people who do drawings, sell 3D models, etc.
I'm all for the idea of payed mods and I know a couple good modders who are also Seeing the amount of downloads mods get currently, if a fraction of people bought them that download it would still be really good money for modders compared to the nothing we currently get even if the mods were like a dollar max Plus, if there's an income involved it just motivates more people to make mods for the game and at a higher quality than free ones
Charging money for work is not greedy, walk outside your door and see how the world and economy works. Also you are not forced to buy paid mods, neither are you entitled to everything in this world for free. Personally I don't mind paying for a high quality mod.
If somebody puts the time and effort into making these mods i dont have a problem buying them its no different from buying official DLC packs.
theres like thousands of good mods, it would cost like 30k to buy like 40% of them. --- Post updated --- i love the fact that everything is free in beamng, its just the game which we have to buy once, thats why so many people like it, and i would hate if i would have to pay thousands of dollars for just some mod.
Nobody would be charging thousands for a mod There's a difference between paying for a mod and paying for a mod to get made If you're selling a mod, you would price it at $1 at most probably because you would make your money from the amount of people purchasing If you're making a mod as a commission you would price it at thousands because your money is only coming from your 1 customer
I agree with modders getting payed for a mod. However, i'm not sure about implementing this feature to the repo is good.
