Re: General discussion chat I'm like the Energizer Bunny at band rehearsal. Even after my Tuesday experience of passing out twice and trowing up due to the 91 degree heat.
Re: General discussion chat Wow you guys are really dedicated when it comes to band. I never did band myself but from what friends and my cousin have told me it sounds brutal. I never really understood the point in getting 15 of the same instrument and having them play the same notes at exactly the same time. 1 talented musician and an amp can get the same effect. Also why do they make things like band and sports so competitive and grueling? Well I thought that since I'm in Tech. School now that my fellow class mates would be far more civilized and mature than like it was in HS. lol well maybe to a degree, but we spent literally like 20 min. today arguing that if a guy F***** a male dog then does that make him gay, straight, or a Bitch . Even this was a pretty intelligent argument compared to some other debates we've had. I just hope I get picked up by some auto manufacturer soon, and they don't come on a day when were debating intercourse with animals, women with beards, or details of recent bathroom experiences .
Re: General discussion chat I don't know what the band schedule is here, and frankly I couldn't give any less fucks than about it that I do now. I hate band. I HATE it. So much. But my school goes from 8:30 to 3:30 on every day except Thursdays. On thursdays we go from 8:30 to 3:00, but the busses don't run till 3:30. I always get a ride from someone that drives though.
Re: General discussion chat Depending on the director, band can be awesome, or completely horrid and brutal. My director is like, both strict and chill at the same time. If you are doing good musically, he won't really care if you do whatever when we aren't playing (referring to the static percussion or whatever it's called; basically me and our percussion group as a whole), but if you suck, he will be on you all the time. I say this heat is fucking horrible. It isn't too ridiculously hot out, but it makes you sweat like crazy.
Re: General discussion chat Whooh boy, it's been 97f and humid here in alabama. Uniforms suck. I found one of my old avatars hiding in a folder around my PC. Still haven't found the oldest black and color steve though.
Re: General discussion chat School for me is 8:50 - 3:40, Monday to Friday for me in Year 13 (12th grade for people in the US), just like every year previously. It is gonna be a difficult year... Although the bus comes at 8:30 and gets home at 4:00 which makes it even longer, then they also expect you to do 1 hour of work at home each night and then homework on top of that. But im not sure how many people do that extra hour of work at home, i think the school just say it to make us feel like we are never working hard enough. No wonder UK youth depression rates are going up so quickly. Although you could also make the argument that no one gave a crap in the 70's if you were so they are bound to go up.
Re: General discussion chat My current director is new for this year. I prefer him over my old one. He's a Clarinet major so he's always got really useful tips for my section. And the facial expressions he makes while conducting... Priceless!
Re: General discussion chat My director is a little of everything. He is the dude who everyone would probably talk to during a party, and he will drink, but not to the point of intoxication. He has a Jeep Grand Cherokee which has like 200k miles on it and about 30 problems (his driver-side door broke, and he had it closed with a bungee cord for a bit) and he loves it to death. He is pretty funny, and he basically plays like any 80s-90s drummer. He does percussion, so he helps us quite a bit. We have our first show in two days, so yay.
Re: General discussion chat My band director last year was a dick. If he was in a good mood, he was tolerable, but if he was in a bad mood, it's almost funny how mad he'd get. One time he got so pissed off that he smashed his fists into his directing stand podium thing, and stuff went flying everywhere. The woodwinds teacher was a complete cunt. If someone held back the band from playing, she'd try to shame you inconveniencing the rest of the band (even though everyone loves it when you keep them from playing) then make you apologize to the class for it. The only tolerable one was a new dude we got last year. He was cool at the beginning of the year, but it seemed like by the end of the year he had all of the personality sucked out of him. He had this lemon grenade coffee mug that he'd use, so I guess that was a plus. But band was my second most hated period, out of 7. The only thing that topped it was math with queen bitch, Mrs. Kelly. So glad I escaped from that bullshit.
Re: General discussion chat You may have heard of my band sometime. Ever been to a competition with the McNicholas Rocket Band? We wear dark green, white, and gold.
Re: General discussion chat I have! You are about 10 minutes away from me! God what a small world. Surely you heard of the Loveland Highschool Marching Band. We're pretty respected around the Cincinnati area. OMEA or MidStates for you guys?
Re: General discussion chat WE HAVE TO MEET UP AND SHIT AND DO STUFF. Also, you should come to our game on Friday. We are doing Beach Boys this year.
Re: General discussion chat One of the things I like best about Bearden (my hs) are the football games. They're so awesome. I've been to them before, but it's a whole new experience when you're actually in high school. There are way too many little kids at these things though. I see a lot of elementary schoolers and such. Anyone that isn't in atleast 7th grade needs to stay out. :|
Re: General discussion chat I'm over at Bob Jones in Madison, AL. Anyone else around here? Seems to be a fairly known school in Alabama. Before that I went to Mansfield High in, yep, Mansfield TX. This is how online stalking and murder starts.
