Exactly. Downloafing mods from there is usually not worth the time. Not only you can get a virus, but also the mod itself would be crap. The best mods on those sites are re-upload versions of forum and repo mods, so, just download from here.

 

Ye, The files are a zip which is a type of file that can contain other files like exe which are usually viruses (duh)

Here's one mod from modland.net, This mod doesn't just have bad crash physics.. But its also a leaked mod from @Alexio and @Fralexio though almost all of their mods are leaked.
The mod is bad because it's an unedited H-series jbeam and there's no broken headlights texture.
Alos sucks because when the van and the h-series are spawned, the h-series is N O T E X T U R E.

 

Some mods are viruses, some are not. I downloaded a couple of safe ones from there (no, they don't break my game) and just wanna say:
The ones that say they are scanned by antivirus and are safe and blah blah blah, are viruses. If you try to download them, it says this:

 

you can send the file in to check if your antivirus detects it as possible virus.
idk if every antivirus has this, but for mine i can just say that i wanna send it to their labour, type in my email adress and then wait for the email saying its a virus or a false positive.

 

Idek how much it costs, my parents use it for a long time and it contains a key for 3 devices sooo

 

I use ModLand for a good majority of my mods, all I can say is that it's not the safest source out there. You should still be cautious and check the mod before installing it. its also recommended to check the comments reviewing the mod. Who knows whether that mod is a bad mesh lap? a mod made just to take up space? a mod that just doesn't work properly? a stolen mod? Worst case scenario a mod that affects the game badly and/or gives you a virus? the chances of getting a virus from ModLand mods are least likely, but still be aware. By the way, if you ever come across any mod from either user named "Crashmashine" or "John Der33" on ModLand. DO NOT install their mods at all because their mods are very fake and can possibly harm your computer.

That's a bit of a stretch dude, NONE of the mods on modland are realsitic UNLESS it's stolen. I respect the decision of people to go here anyways because they want that real-life car they love, but they are still crap.
