I know soft lock is to keep from going past the natural lock of the car in-game, but I've been having to just let go of my wheel when it kicks in because it's so strong. I use a CSL DD, so when it suddenly puts the full strength of the motor with no ramp-up, I'm sure you can understand how bad that can be. I'm not entirely sure how to lessen the effect it has since there's no obvious settings for it, but it's become more annoying than useful. I'm only bringing this up because I've actually gotten hurt a few times because of it.

Edit: Just realized I forgot my question. Is there a way to not make it so my wheel doesn't want to rip my hands off when I hit the lock?

Honestly I just shut off soft lock. It doesn’t differ from car to car and just stops the wheel from moving about an inch.

I honestly can't do that since I have a direct drive wheel that's set to lock 2520 degrees for the T-series, bus and the other large trucks so the force feedback will force the wheel to turn until it stops itself. I could change the wheel range, sure, but that's a lot of work to do when I'm constantly changing vehicles.

That makes sense. I honestly just think they haven't accounted for wheel bases like yours yet with the soft lock system.

For bases like yours or mine (20Nm of peak torque) you may want to disable the setting entirely.

There may be 3d printable replacement parts online.

I've modified the soft lock checkbox: starting in 0.25, it'll become a slider where you can select how much force it will use (from 0% to disable the effect, up to 100% to use all the torque your wheel is capable of).

That's great news actually. I had just decided to muscle past the soft lock a little bit to stop it from bouncing on the lock. Definitely looking forward to the update when that's ready.

As an alternate solution, maybe you could max the strength in beam and reduce it in the fanatec software, so that the soft lock is limited too ?

That can be actually dangerous and not to mention it's not recommended by Fanatec to do that with any game.

Don't do it then, but i'm wondering, if you do it in the fanatec software, won't it reduces all inputs by a set number ? So then if you reduce it enough it would be the same ?

Sadly, it's not that simple since fanatec only has options to adjust types of forces (spring, damper, and game force). Adjusting any one of those chances the overall feel for each of those outputs and if one is set too low, it can adversely affect how the force feedback feels, leading to an uninformative experience than can make it undriveable.
