Honestly I don’t really think career mode is a good idea. I just don’t see the way beamng is now being tied together into a career story mode. I feel like they would have to really grasp at some straws to make it work and it would feel very off putting and out of place. I think the developers should stick to the sandbox nature of the game and let our imaginations flourish

 

you have a point, but at the same time career has been promised pretty much since day 1 so if the devs were to shaft it it'd break a lot of trust with people

 

I agree, I never understood why some people in here are looking forward for it with this much zest. I mean, what's the point of career mode in a sandbox game where the number one enjoyment factor is the absolute freedom of choice?

 

If it brings ruled races, i'd be more than happy. That's the kind of things i hope career mode will bring.

 

I hope in racing and better AI too and it would be cool to have a tool to simply setup lap/sprint race, but there are lot of people that like delivery/emergency style of driving where the in-game economy will make this game more immersive. (I suppose it will have an in-game economy as shown in Rocky Start)

The same thing for 'nfs' type of career fans where they can start with a beater covet or d-series and progress through the racing to earn money for the new cars and parts. Maybe even license types of missions that open more races similar to GT games.

 

Ruled racing belongs to other types of racing games. Specifically the ones putting racing simulation above anything else and thus being subject to restrictions BeamNG just doesn't face.
But one could say that BeamNG brings its unique crash model into the mix (plus its ever improving driving and aerodynamics models).

 

It's a driving game. Racing is driving. It's one of the main things people do in car games. We even got hirochi raceway, which is basically only a racetrack with some roads aside, and a lot of race cars.

 

Hirochi Raceway isn't the only map available in BeamNG. Maps with normal roads are the main quantity.
Racing is the main thing, not "one of the main things" in those other games. And I mean that it overshadows the rest of the things you can do. For example, having to service and sell the vehicles in those games is done for the sole purpose of not falling behind your competitors. You don't have the luxury of seeing how your car's performance deteriorates just for the fun of it because you're constantly busy racing with the others in order to get the gold trophy. BeamNG gives us exactly this privilege, among other things.

Although, I'd say that BeamNG has its own original universe of companies and brand names and it could follow the Gran Turismo Museum approach for presenting this original content to us and informing us more deeply about it!

 

It's incredible how quickly people change opinion whether the game needs a career mode or not.

While the game has pretty much made its fame being a sandbox, I feel the game could be more enjoyable if it had more depth to it, sort of how Street Legal Racing Redline did it.

Being able to buy cars, fix them, drive them/race them and have it all be on a realistic manner and having to fix them, etc. is quite an intoxicating thought, one that many games have attempted to make but by reasons have not been able to achieve.

 

I think that career mode will be all that it’s been hyped up to be and more. Remember, they’re not going to get rid of free roam so you can still have fun with that. There are probably going infinite possibilities with career. Circuit racing, street racing, rallying, drifting, it’ll probably have the best elements of every racing game with that beamng charm.

 

i feel like if beamng were to have a career, it'd be something like burnout crash mode. i doubt it'd be something where you have an actual job or a racing career.

While it's a tweet from 9 years ago, i don't think they downgraded their idea of a career since then.

 

Yeah, thats what I thought, and i doubt their aspirations have gone down since then.
