2 theories of mine. Theory 1: The contest was just for fun. Theory 2: There might be a small part of Campaign mode added? or a new type of mission? But hey, thats just a theory!
Tbh, I highly doubt it. I mean, it wouldn't be productive for the entirety of the game, especially when we think the Dev Team also prepares the future updates.
I don´t know if some of you keep track of the steam chart for the game ( https://steamcharts.com/app/284160#All ) but this last period in between updates has taken quite a toll on the average number of players. Usually the levels are quite stable and only fall a bit the month prior to an update but this last time it´s fallen quite a lot. It´s in the company´s interest to keep gaining players and enlarging their platform so I find it quite weird they haven´t really been active on their social media. Anyway, a supercar and so on should also give the game more presence and attention and could potentially get them many more players.
It's my personal belief that the developers have seen the new releases, and, in response (as well as a response to other factors we don't yet know about), stepped up their development speed with all hands on deck. Hence the lack of social media posts and borderline radio silence on the forums- I would, in all honesty, not be surprised if we saw the fabled Civetta Supercar in the next update, followed by a huge break for all members of the team, as they would have had to have been fully heads-down laser-focused on development for the last few months to get it done. Could be totally wrong, and I don't intend to hype myself up for a false reality, it just makes the most sense to me personally.
ill be honest i dont think they are trying to compete with well established racing games at the moment, considering its currently a beta release proof of concept vehicle physics simulator in the future? likely yes, once we see an established career mode and other things, but for now im guessing they have their sights set on working at their own pace to keep on making the game better and hopefully, the long silence was them finally taking a break from god knows how much work they had to do with fixing the bastion issues, god knows they earned at least a week off
oh no, I just meant to answer the question from @coreyowenstannard , and I was referring to the earlier posts from Acrain and Manfred -- so sorry if I misunderstood something
i saw on the beamng discord that qa_stable got updated apparently! i have high hopes since: last years update (wendover) came out march 29th and 2 years ago (cherrier) it came out on april 8th so we are definitely quite close.
I would also note that it is April, only one or two months before the end of the school year in most countries. Especially without an update to keep them on, students from 5-22 are all more likely to study extra hard for those last few tests than play a game that's been the same since Christmas.
