but the bastion has the 'luxe' config, surely it must mean it is a luxury car and definitely not just a tacky marketing ploy

I'm also thinking of something: you see, the counterparts of Bastion in real life are sister cars, one of them being a sedan and the other a coupe (charger, challenger)
Bastion in its self is also a 4 door sedan. Going with dodge analogy and lining up with Moonhawk name, there theoretically can be a two door bastion that is called moonhawk, yet like cherriers they share a platform
What do you think? I still think that bastion lacks the 2 door muscle car counterpart

Yep, the remastering of the Moonhawk can (possibly) expand the variety of the body styles - meaning there's a strong possibility that the Bastion has a predecessor lost somewhere in the time continuum. Plus, sharing the same structure means the interchangeability of many parts is gonna be super easy (body panels, interior items, lights, front and rear mask clips, bumpers, suspension components, powertrains, even the ladder-type frame itself)!
Yeees, hadn't thought of the FCVs but it's dead-accurate!!
Also yeah, the Moonhawk is lacking a plethora of muscle tuning parts and it's also lacking a larger variety of engines, as choked as they may be. I say this because the 244CUI Inline-6 is unnaturally powerful for its time period - 160hp is a decent number but around 100-110hp would be much more realistic. So this leaves enough open space for middle-ground engines (for example, a 130hp small gasoline V8 and a 110hp Diesel V8 with an available Turbocharger, like that amazing mod of Mr. Powerstroke, both larger than the existing 244CUI Inline-6 and smaller than the existing 378CUI V8) and even a larger V8 than the existing 378CUI!
The plethora of muscle tuning parts can include all engines (even the 244CUI Inline-6 for those who think it's mistreated in the stable, and the Diesel V8, for those who like that sort of thing) for giving the true freedom of playability and choice!

Plus yeah, the modern Moonhawk looks like a fairly easy (and desirable) project with the Bastion parts we have available!

even all of this is just superficially looking at models and textures, there are cars in a much worse state jbeam-wise than the two modern ETKs.

It's really impressive that even without any teaser since 2 month we can still speculate about so much things

P.S. Sorry for my english. Sometimes it's not pretty good :p

The 378 is very underpowered as well. This suggests that the 378 in its current tune should be restricted to the facelift, with a more powerful variant for prefacelift, and the reverse for the 244.

I find this funny since I thought the bastion was fine in terms of design. It's a modern car so it's got modern car problems and designs. People also forget that copyright and trademark laws are a thing so we can't have a 1 to 1 dodge hellcat ingame.

The problem with the Bastion is that people are comparing it to something that it's not intended to be, and then blaming the obvious differences.

it definitely gives the devs a big chance at adding a wide variety of muscle tuner parts, as well as brand new moonhawk body styles. one theory i have even though i have zero evidence for this is a possible dodge monaco style 4 door riding on the moonhawk frame in order to fill the role of the large 70s land yacht sedan that the game currently lacks

I think an interesting route to take would be basically taking the Moonhawk, making a 4 door version of it and offering it as a trim named the Bastion, so it would be the Bruckell Moonhawk Bastion. This is a similar concept to how the Supra used to be a trim of the Celica and eventually split off and became its own model with it's own trims. A similar concept could be applied to an El Camino like body style of the Moonhawk as well, and we already have someone making a version of the Bastion as a ute.

it would make sense definitely, since the lack of teasers and large lack of actual in game screenshots has begun to make me think the next vehicle we see in game might not be the civetta after all

You're right, the 378 is quite powerful for its time, even with the 2-barrel carburetor (181hp) but it's not that far from the real-life Chevy 400CUI, which made 175hp back then.
Also, IRL, the 454 BBC made roughly 215hp during those dark times and, with the 4-barrel carburetor, the in-game 378 almost matches it (208hp), which isn't all that correct after the 1976 facelift of the Moonhawk.
So, the 2-barrel 181hp/4-barrel 208hp 378CUI can be reserved for the 1973-75 Moonhawk (which got out just at the start of the energy crisis), while some more restricted versions of this engine, with less hp, can be put on the 1976-78 one.
Also yes, the 244CUI Inline-6 can have a powerless version for the Base facelift model while the 160hp version of this engine we know can be reserved for the prefacelift 73-75 model (meaning that the 244 can have its own tuning parts too). But for the "powerless" 244 to exist, a middle ground has to be made and that's by expanding the variety of engines because if anything, the distance between the "powerless" 244 and the non-choked 2-barrel 378 is too long (supposing the former is around 110hp and the latter, as we know it, is at 181hp). So a V8 smaller than the 378 can fit in between the 244 and the 378 while a Diesel V8 (with an available Turbocharger, as I said earlier) can be fitted to the facelifted models, as a reaction to the energy crisis. Plus a V8 larger than all of the aforementioned ones (and coming with a 4-barrel as standard) can satisfy those who want their excesses, adapted to the time period of course.

So, for simplifying all this text mess, we have:

    244CUI Inline-6
    "Powerless" Base version: 1976-78 facelift
160hp version, as we know it: 1973-75 prefacelift

    V8 Smaller than the 378CUI V8, middle-ground between the 244 and the 378
1973-75 prefacelift, 1976-78 facelift - it can stay on both life cycles with its power/torque figures unchanged, for those who don't want a large V8 or the 244CUI Inline-6

    Diesel V8 with available Turbocharger
1976-1978 facelift - as a response to the gas crunch

    378CUI V8
    The non-choked 2-barrel 181hp/4-barrel 208hp versions as we know them: 1973-75 prefacelift
Choked 2-barrel/4-barrel variants: 1976-78 facelift - these choked variants can coexist with the smaller gas V8, for those who just want more displacement plus a bit more torque out of it

V8 larger than all of the aforementioned engines, with standard 4-barrel carburetor
    Non-choked: 1973-75 prefacelift
    Choked: 1976-78 facelift

I agree with everything you said, these are niches not filled in the BeamNG lore up until now! ;)
T-Top and Convertible Moonhawk bodies (plus a Landau Top for the Coupe and T-Top Moonhawk bodies) would also be great, as would a Moonhawk Bastion Station Wagon be!
Not to mention (since I mentioned Convertibles and Wagons) that the Gavril Bluebuck could easily have Convertible and Wagon variants as well! The existing bodies offer an easy base for them: the 2-door Hardtop for the Convertible, the 4-door Sedan for the Wagon plus a Special 4-door Marshal Convertible based on the 4-door Hardtop! ;)

I find the Bastion good looking as well.
Also, putting real-life brands isn't the purpose of BeamNG. BeamNG already has its own lore of companies and nameplates, so it doesn't need real ones to become better known! ;)
