Unfortunately, there are these devices known as an autotragic gearbox which require no hand movements while gear changing. How boring...

The best place is the middle! McLaren F1, they got it correct! Optimum driving position.

    Use your penis to shift.

    Or get an automatic.

The first choice is preferable obviously.

Doesn't matter. Its simple enough to adjust. but thats because I'm ambidextrous, can't identify my right and left very easily and I've always thought of things in terms of where the middle of the road is. No matter what country you are in you're always going to be closest to the oncomming traffic so your gear lever and the important bit of the dash is going to be further away from the middle of the road than you are.

No driving feel whatsoever, they come second only to an automatic for bland and boring driving. I'd rather drive a wilson preselector than a paddle shifter. But really, H shifter + clutch or nothing. Anything else is bland and boring.

    Sequential shifters are pretty swish.

I don't mind paddle shifters, plus lamborghinis have paddle shifters. Do you think a Gallardo is boring?

    Extremely

Paddle shifter: press button. Oh wow, oh wow oh wow, this is such an engaging driving experience. No. No it isn't. That is not driving. They suck. Lamborghini's would be a million times better with a conventional gearbox. If I buy a "nice" car, I want to drive it, I don't want it to drive itself.

At the driving itself part, I agree, but the transmission doesn't drive the car :/ Google's new self driving var drives itself however (and imo, google should stop, as having a self driving car takes all the fun out)

About the dominant hand thing... I dunno how well that statement holds up when it comes to changing gears. I've set up my G25 steering wheel as both left-handed and right-handed and it never really bothered me or affected how well I could play a video game.

People drive like cunts. The future will be all about fully automated cars. I've spent ten years on the road as a job and that excludes the countless thousands of commuter hours I've also experienced. The majority of drivers are total shitheads. Fully automated vehicles will improve traffic flow because the human element (ie, emotions) will be removed. Physically driving a car will possibly/eventually become a sport/hobby like go-karts and track days.

I'll agree with 6677. Manual with clutch or take the bus.

Unfortunately some of us don't get the luxury of having manual and clutch. I didn't exactly get to choose my truck. Once I get my first car, it definitely will be manual.

While I agree, you can make anything sound boring in that tone.

"Oh look, I pressed some silly pedal and pushed a stick, how engaging and fun -.-"

But yeah, manuals are always the best.
