Huh, i guess they just kinda abondoned it. Weird how it has the log in with password, which isnt found anywhere else on the forums. All the fonts too. I tried every combination of merch and store i can think of but i guess its better hidden then that
It is definitely hosted by BeamNG, but I understand where you are coming from The lack of wording and information is probably because it isn't finished yet. It's a shopify shop, so that's why the font etc isn't what we are used to.
Yep, a slightly longer front end would be great for fitting a 2-liter Inline-6, like that of the Prince Skyline 2000 GT (S54) vs the basic 1500 Inline-4 (S50)! --- Post updated --- What site is this? Is it for merch content?
Okay. The first photo of the Covet was also a concept/in-development photo. They wouldn't share anything unless it was already mostly finalized.
the initial covet teaser was the model of the rear quarterpanel, all they had to do since then to get it releasable is: -finish modelling the new parts such as the group B body panels and engine bay (and an alternate bodystyle if that exists), -adjust or remodel some existing parts, like the interior and regular engine bay, -make new textures for basically everything -then make new JBeams for just the new parts, and otherwise only do relatively minor tweaks to the existing ones. to finish the civetta, they have to: -finish designing, then fully model the body, -design and model the whole interior completely from scratch -design and model all the mechanical components completely from scratch -then comes the easy part, modelling a chassis not only from scratch, but also one which is far lighter and stiffer than anything they've done so far, meanwhile probably stress-testing it to remain stable at much higher speeds than usual. -then finally, very finely tuning the chassis and suspension setup handling, to make the new-found sim racing audience happy. similarly, this is going to be far more difficult than with any existing car, as it needs to be not only well balanced, like the SBR or bolide are aimed towards, but also with the precision of the vivace. that being said, they have been keeping fairly strictly to the 2-cars per update schedule, and unless there's a secret sunburst remaster (or something) planned, it seems they are intending to release the civetta with this update.
I kinda thought it was more less a coincidence that they've done 2 vehicle related things per update, but that could be a thing they are doing. It's kinda hard to predict what this update will be, since we really only have the covet remaster confirmed. But I feel like they would release the Civetta as its own update. Say they release it along with a new aerodynamics model, and maybe a ETK K-series remaster (because imo a GT3 K-Series like the sketch esesel posted would be pretty cool along side a new hypercar) I think if they were to release the civetta with the covet, we'd be waiting a little bit longer for the update. Which is a possibility, but I think they would prefer if this thread didn't lose its mind
Hear me out, I think the supercar is a terrible idea. The BeamNG engine is not adequate to simulate a vehicle with the required grip and stiffness, nor does the aero simulation scale well to high speeds. It may go fast but I can't shake this feeling it will end up handling like a D-Series. Probably best to play to the engine's strengths instead of giving the audience whatever they want
i sorta see where you're coming from, but if the beamteam can get a french hatchback to handle great, they can make a supercar handle great we're getting an actual supercar for the first time, at least try to enjoy it also please do not start drama over this
Knowing these guys, however, they most likely completely remade the covet - as they did with the legran and pigeon. I mean, the Covet definitely deserves to be completely remade, seeing as it's one of the OG vehicles the game released with and one of the main vehicles in the first trailer vids back in 2012. And following what I said above....the OG covet model is severely outdated for today's standards. It would take a lot of work to just remaster it other than to just completely re-do it. Quality would be so much better, as seen with the Legran/Pigeon.
Part of me is just salty that we still don't have a rotary engine, but the FCV isn't exactly the best handling car in the game - even after all these years, and without a remaster, that title still goes to the Covet (and the remaster better not change that!). Then again, that's a very different car, but it still shows that handling quality degrades with size in BeamNG Either way, the time trial of the century will be new Bolide vs. lightly tuned V6 Covet
covet is the best handling car in the game? you sure you might be right considering i play on keyboard and am not a huge covet fan, but the covet?
ill say the covet handles pretty good also, no teaser yesterday, kind of a shame but who knows, maybe the update is coming soon
I'm going to pull this out of my ass right now, so don't ask for sources nor is it speculation, but if any current ingame car were to get a wankel engine, it should be the Miramar. It might not make sense at first, but the Miramar is quite close to the Mazda REPU, except it being a 4-door instead of a pickup, which was powered by a 1.0L 2-rotor wankel out of the original Mazda Cosmo. Having remade that engine in BeamNG with the characteristics of a wankel & a sound similiar to the Cosmo, I have to say that I am surprised the Miramar hasn't received that engine yet & can only hope for it being on the "things to add in the remaster" list for it Such engine does truly feel like something the Miramar actually needs to have, not just wishful thinking
Perhaps they've already thought of the aforementioned issues and are going to update elements of the engine to coincide with the Civetta's release? Seems entirely possible, also gives us a lot of speculation topics on what they could change with the engine
The biggest part that needs improvement for such a car is the aero system ; there was already some speculation about a raytraced system, like the one they're developping for the audio occlusion.
They very could be updating the engine to support better aerodynamic simulation and other ways of making suspension, this is not just some random mod, but actual official content made by competent people. --- Post updated --- I want some of the stuff you are on.
So the devs posted this earlier, not a teaser but there’s a possibility of something hidden in the background that I’m missing. Also, the livery looks different. It could be the race livery in a color scheme I’m not used to, but that number on the side looks like a different font.
