Weird suspension

how can i fix this?
or is it normal?
its the 3 link solid axle front suspension with the offroad coilovers, it happens always if im using the offroad coilovers on any suspension on the d series

I don't really know why it does that but that doesn't really seem like an issue ? you can always try and lower the dampening in compression, in the tuning menu.

Are you talking about the fact that when you hit the brakes, the front end is going up rather than down and the rear is getting compressed?

 

that's how the suspension geometry works, the arms cause the suspension to be pushed up. It happens in real life too.

When you disconnect the trailer, I would imagine that the trucks suspension behaves normally, correct?

I literally can not understand what you are trying to convey here... but here goes what I "think" your getting at.

Under normal braking with no trailer... you hit the brakes... and the nose dives on the truck as one would expect.

Under braking with the trailer... you hit the brakes... and then the opposite happens and the nose of the truck actually picks up.

If that's what your on about, there is a reason this happens.

When you hit the brakes, the weight is transferred forwards. This can be seen easily on the truck just buy itself as the front of the truck sinks due to this weight transfer. With the trailer in tow however, the dynamics of the system changes. When you hit the brakes with the trailer, even if the trailer itself doesn't have brakes on it, the deceleration will still transfer the weight forwards. When this happens, much more force is put on the tow hitch of the truck. If you have a LOT of weight on the trailer, this transfer can end up being pretty drastic and end up putting so much force on the tow hitch that it will actually start to pitch the front of the truck skyward. This is, in fact, what you are probably seeing in this situation. Try a lighter load... the effect should lessen... now try a heavier load... the effect should get far worse. This is also a very good demonstration of why overloading a trailer with too small a truck is a bad thing. Sure... the truck can get the weight moving no problem... but can it keep it under control when stopping? That is the real kicker.

If that's the case, do you have any mod's installed? If so something might be causing some instability. Try running the game in safe mode (I think that's what it's called?) so that no mods are active, then use that same truck and try the experiment again. See if the issue persists.

 

The trailer being heavy is acting literally like a weight to stop the truck from leaning forward when braking that's why the suspension is stiff at the front when braking. The weight from the planks also seems more towards the front of the trailer so more weight is on the hitch
