With the discontinuation of 32bit systems, I feel sorry for the people who post 0.5 FPS videos to the subreddit.

Seriously tho, hopefully that makes the devs' lifes a bit easier.

I know this isn't all the players that own BeamNG, but the SteamCharts all time high of players for Beam (playing at the same time) is 14,251 (as of posting this). 0.5% of that is 71. So theoretically with entirely flaud math, that's a number, that probably means something.

I mean, it's been five months, which would be about the right length for a prolonged development period. I'd be surprised if it isn't out by the end of next month, personally.

It means there's a surprisingly high number of BeamNG players running 32bit systems

Tbh yes, five months is already a prolonged period by the standards of the past 3 or 4 years (during which the updates dropped every 4 months) in this game but I don't really mind. If the prolonged time periods between the updates mean the updates are gonna be even higher quality than now (thanks in part to the exclusive focusing on the 64bit OSs), then so be it! ;)

You'd probably prefer to look at the total ammount of players, instead. Playertracker.net reports a total estimated player count of 1.9 Million. If we assume this number to be correct, that means that equals out to about 9,500 players.

That 32 bit discontinued announcement makes me almost 100% sure the update is near. They wouldn’t announce it if the update was far to keep the 32-bit player base playing for some time, but the update isn’t a day away so 32-bit players have some early notice. I bet this week.

Ah, perhaps it hasn't been to long after all, then :)

Oh, i don't see any issue with the prolonged release schedule! I actually prefer it, as it allows the developers to work without a horrible crunch-time mindset (at least, hopefully), and also sees us ending up with much better and higher quality content upon each release.
    --- Post updated ---
It could be that they've simply just made this decision recently, in the midst of the update's development, and decided to let everyone know ahead of time.

Or you could be right. I want you to be.

but a core 2 duo would be able to run this game no problem? the minimum requirements on the store page are an FX 6300 which has way slower single thread performance than any desktop core 2 duo

people really need to stop exaggerating how cpu demanding this game is

Yep, for now we've seen that the ~4 month deadlines have had some half-done things left behind (and these things are/have been repeatedly reported by many of us in the respective forums - note that I'm mainly talking about the vehicles on this one), so this may also mean that the extra time available will intensify the concentration of the Quality Control crew on fixing them. Plus, this will also be the case for the new content being planned for the future.
In short, quality needs its time! ;)

A 32-bit system can only use a maximum of 4GB RAM since it can't count the spaces on the RAM further than that, so I don't see a way you could run beam on 32 bit

I used to play on a pirated 0.7 copy of BeamNG, on a laptop with 4 GB of RAM and an integrated GPU

In case anyone's wondering, i bought the game on Steam after i got a new PC

That's probably a lot more accurate number. I was having a hard time finding a website that gave me the total player count.

I can't think of any reasonable scenario where someone would be running a 32-bit only CPU to run games. Nearly every CPU made since the mid-00's is 64-bit compatible, and the cheapest mum's-work-laptop-spec CPU from 2013 will also be 64-bit... even the Raspberry Pi has a 64-bit CPU.

I think anyone running 32-bit probably installed the wrong version of Windows. Typically the user would pick the version they want either at download or at installation, so it's conceivable that a few people would pick the wrong one and be none the wiser. I think Windows 11 is the first version that is 64-bit only.

As mentioned above, anyone running a 32-bit OS can only address ~3.5GB of memory anyway, even if you have much more installed in the system.

I am surprised they are people still running 32-bit.

Glad they are getting rid of 32-bit.

Also this is a bit off-topic. I am gonna just lurk the fourms from now on. I lost interest using the fourms.
