Well, in an attempt to get this thread back on topic... I have a theory. I could be completely wrong, but hear me out. It’s about the engines. See, we’ve been getting “remastered car + 1 new car” style updates for 3 updates, iirc first one being 0.22. One thing I found interesting was that the remastered cars and the new ones share very similar engines: 0.22 — Wendover had different i4s and V6s, same with the Legran 0.23 — Pigeon and Wigeon both had a selection of i3s (I think?) and i4s 0.24 — this one doesn’t rly count since we didn’t get a new car, but 2 remastered cars 0.24.1 — Bastion and Bolide both had V8s, albeit with very different displacement sizes 0.25 — right, so here’s my theory: as far as I know, most supercars have a “poor man’s base model”. If this trend continues, I wouldn’t be surprised if the new Civetta will have a V6 engine for the cheapest model, and hence the Group B-ish Covet might also have a V6? Maybe? Again, this ‘trend’ might just be purely coincidental, but its smth I found interesting nevertheless.
I find it rather unlikely that the new Civetta supercar would have a V6, they would probably save that for a seperate model. It would be cool to get an aftermarket Bolide V8 or even Gavril OHC swap.
Yeah, I have to agree to that, now that you mentioned it. On that note, I think the modern Civetta might have a V10 or V12, and of that's the case, then it might explain why development is taking so long. I mean, it would be the first vanilla car to have either of these engine types. A lot of work is probably needed for a completely new engine. We’ll see I guess.
you're right, it was almost seven years ago, in 2015. the pigeon used to have that weird belted-steering front fork setup, remember? As for the talks of engines in the civetta, I'd imagine they want to spread out the performance range like the SBR and Bolide already are. I could see them modelling it off mclaren's lineup, using various tunes of N/A and turbo V8s. it's not inconceivable that they might also jam a V12 in there. However, I can't help but feel like the front teaser we've been given looks like an electric variant. maybe I'm just seeing a resemblance to the lotus evija, but I think a ~2000hp electric hypercar which can blow the doors off even an eSBR800 would be worthwhile.
It would be cool if someone modded that back in the game, it's really unique and allows for a really easy LHD conversion. And fits the weirdness of the Pigeon and Wigeon. But anyway what the heck is that dumb theory that DrowsySam is secretly a dev and helps them behind the scenes but doesn't publically show it because... reasons? And even if it was true, he wouldn't be allowed to just leak dev stuff like that on Reddit. And that deformable terrain is definitely not official content and probably will never even be a public mod. The way that it's done looks like it uses thousands of nodes and I can't even imagine how many beams, this is definitely not an optimal solution that the devs would have wanted, spawning 2 of those things would lag your PC to death and nevermind the whole terrain of them bruh.
On another "trend", BeamNG seems to be adding facelifts and new looks for cars when they get remastered. The LeGran, D-Series, H-Series, Roamer and Bolide all got pre/post facelift versions, and while the Pigeon didn't get any, it got the Wigeon which is essentially a different body on the same chassis. I wonder if there will be an updated look for the remastered Covet as well.
@crashmaster his profile DOES say this: I don't know why he hasn't got the dev banner but he clearly does stuff at beamng.
I wouldn't say the Bolide got a facelift, it's just that the new body with the fixed headlights is there for distinguishing the Twin-Turbocharged versions from the NA ones. After all, the Twin-Turbocharged versions were produced at the same model years as the NA ones.
The Wendover was based on the LeGran, and the Wigeon was based on the Pigeon, so it makes sense for them to share engines (P.S. the Wendover also has a V8) The Bolide always had those V8s, while the Bastion is a big American muscle, any other engine wouldn't fit the type of car, so yeah, I'd say it's mostly a coincidence Now to the Civetta, there have been V6 supercars recently, like the Ford GT or the Ferrari 296 GTB, so a V6 Civetta wouldn't be too out of place, but since the devs don't have emission standards to follow , i assume they would go for something more exclusive, so I'd expect a V8 as a minimum Finally the Covet, the MR Turbo badge speaks for itself, a turbo V6 would be too much IMO, a I4 is a lot more likely, but seeing how there's a real life mid-engined Civic using a V6, it might be present as a different aftermarket config
I got a feeling. As most if not all new cars since about 2016/7 Have had some new thing that no other car has had. I think its a ideal for a V10 V12 ( Cough V16 anyone ) And said V8 AND V6. Like LWB back end for the V10 upwards And a smaller wheel back back end for the V6 And V6s. The smaller ones offering a Hybrid. ( as stranded ) and a Turbo AM not into Super cars/hyper cars i love german cars and Classic steel ( anymodel ) and Aussie cars. BUT seeing this super car. AND getting a Super car book last week. Am hyped. WITH said possible Hybrid ( no proof its even worked on ) I think They may/should add some vivace Hybrid and possibly a Older hybrid system to the sunburst. Moving on. I look forward to making a CHEAP Rear engine. Detuned with a Inline 4 ( is possible ) and makeing it like a Toyota MR2 If it was a hatch. Cheap affordable Sport car. But almost like a super car. But not . I cant wait for this update
Well... it technically is the same sound since the devs did invest in the sounds made for automation.
