starting to feel like it's a fact that majority of the playerbase is younger and does not have access to online banking.

This is very strange phrasing. I guess you made it clear in later messages that you were talking about mesh slaps in particular. But making game assetts is an actual profession. Playing beamNG or factorio can also be a profession if you're a streamer or youtuber. But whether or not it generates money relies on if people watch your content. In the case of BeamNG modding, it boils down to whether people wants to pay for your mods or not.

Did you really get hung up on the word consumer? It refers to the buyer in a market context. You are a consumer if you buy books, computer games and movies. Non of which you eat / use as firewood.
And you make mods for free, that's great. I have done so too. I have models however that I will not give away for free.

    yeah its true.
same goes with why epic is rolling in cash with fortnite and all their bs lol. because kids wants these skins.
if you can sell it to kids i guess profit??? nothing wrong with that anymore i guess.

in the case of beam, id like to say lucas is one of the good examples that i threw hate at for the wrong reasons. he does actual dev worthy stuff, its his own hand made created content. he has a right to say "im selling this mod cuz i worked hard on it"

the low effort meshslaps that tries to sell itself for an upwards of 10$ on the other hand....
this is why we need a moderated paid section just like the moderated official repo section. to prevent low effort bs to land in the eyes of children who wants to give everyone their moms credit card numbers.

It's like any other gimmicky toy. For example pokemon cards or fidget spinners.
It's just that fortnite skins are digital.

Just checked out the Cherrier Picnic... very reasonable price.. I'm just afraid that it will make people release mediocre mods and believe it is worthy of paywalling..

It's not your model and you don't own the rights to it anyways so what's the point in getting hung up on technicalities.

Honestly that looks pretty alright, but I'd like to see what the model doesn in crashes. Edited jbeam+highpoly model makes for lots of spiking.

What bothers me about paid mods, is when the modder uses free or stolen assets and charges for them. Or it's simply a meshlap.

If the models are hand-made by the modder, everything made by the modder, no issues contributing.

That's not too bad, but it's not great either.
I must say your sales policy is quite ironic considering you didn't model these lol

honestly these pics shows some of the jbeam. im thankfull that you show these.
but you did come forward to show them nice jbeams so ill give you that.
if all the mods you do are like that, only issue i see is the model.
but it depends on all people modding, some are good with physics, some are good with textures, some are good with all.
some takes meshes from other games and sells them as their own.... thats absolutely bad.

    some tips.
if you are advertising selling good jbeam, show it. it wouldve helped way before anything exploded.
it doesnt hurt to show to show the quality of the jbeam if its done right.
    CREDIT SOURCE OF MODEL!!!!!
that is all i can think of for now.

    good luck in the future.

seriously though, if a modder starts charging more money for an update, I don't think anyone would be buying it. that'd be one of the quickest ways to get yourself ostracised form the community.

Aside of sunk cost, another big reason for this to happen is the knowledge among player bases and the philosophy behind these games. Most of those rich kids who spent $500+ of flight sim mods don't have a fundamental knowledge of flight, 98% of those "professional" keyboard pilot don't even know what adverse yaw is. [They] believe that the more expensive the mod [they] have, the more professional the pilot [they] will be. Many of them daydream of saving the plane in the case of pilot(s) error. Imagine what will happen if the pilots don't lock the door between the cockpit and the passenger cabin. Those backseat "pilots" will rush to the cockpit and say "tHunDER sToRm aHeaD tUrN lEfT" or "18000 fEeT sET 29,92 in.Hg". Similar to those who "i pLaY gTA666 I kNOW hOW tO dRiVE bEAMnG cAR tOO sLIppRY crASHes like paPeR". BeamNG.drive on the other hand, emphasize the realism of vehicle behavior in a soft-body simulation. There are vehicle engineers among the stuff, and the game is more transparent. Not only the game is DRM-free, but also the content zips can be opened and player can admire the inner beauty of the cars, and modders can also teach themselves about modding by studying the working of BeamNG official vehicles. Thus, BeamNG's player base(at least in this forum) is more knowledgeble and as a result, most players are able to evaluate the quality of mods.

Did you notice that he replied the post above and below these posts, while these two posts are ignored by iamthelaws105 who was(and probably is) avoiding the topic about the source of the 3D model. This phenomenon raises the suspicion to a higher level, we may have a JsZ Mk II:rolleyes::rolleyes:
