they really need to add the dirt texture back if they make the career mode where you buy old broken down cars(or a rust texture idk)

Performance would have been far better on Cryengine, its a way more polished and completed engine. It also has the advantage of years of documentation behind it but licencing is the only problem.

I highly doubt crisis would run better for those with crap gpu (for example, me)

    *Crysis
Also, the Intel HD isn't technically a GPU, it's integrated into the mobo, so it's not a physical GPU.

Cryengine is not Crysis... But yes you should be able to play Crysis at high as long as you play in 800x600.

This is particularly a problem in detailed environments like East coast USA which atm can't run very smoothly on either of my PC's even with the physics paused, one of which is an intel laptop not far of the specs of your pc. Were as Crysis is perfectly playable on low-ish settings on the laptop and has much more detailed environments in most cases, my PC can max Crysis at 1080p and rarely dip bellow 60fps were as with BeamNG I get about 40fps with some awful chopping and frame skipping making it practically unplayable.

Torque 3d isnt an awful engine its just incredibly badly optimised.

And crysis runs on cryengine does it not? ;) idk why were talking about cryengine and beamng though, the devs have stated that they wont be going to it anytime soon, and they also help the t3d team with stuff now as well so it would be strange to just disappear from that and be on cryengine

It would be cool though if the devs were able to release the original demo free for people who bought the game right now, but since you still technically have to pay, license would be required

Yes it does but it is only one of many games based on the engine so to take everything about performance from that one game is a little off, especially seeing as there have been several new releases of the engine since. Yeah I dont expect them to switch or really want them to, I just know Cryengine would have been better overall but I understand why it wasn't used.

Torque3D's optimization seems non-existent. I mean seriously, 20fps on Grid map (plain) with the pigeon and paused phyiscs, Vs realtime car shaders + shadows with 128 Lamborghini's from Forza at 60fps in Unity.

If the engine gets optimized. I will play a lot more.

Are you plowing all 128 of those Lamborghinis into each other simultaneously with soft body physics? No. Does the Unity engine even have (or support) soft body physics? No.

I'm sorry to ruin your hate post but he clearly said gridmap with a pigeon and PAUSED physics, which has nothing to do with the soft body physics or whatever, but with graphic optimization. Therefore your argument is invalid.

I'm not saying he's right or wrong, I'm just saying you are wrong.

Also leave your personal insults somewhere else.

I'm not exactly sure but i heard the devs mention torque3D was better in the way they could adapt it to the game and apparently they have made changes that mean it can't go back to cry engine

Aside from the personal and uncalled for defamation, your point about these other engines not sampling each car 2K times per second for real time deformation
is spot on. Until someone can provide framerate info of Cryengine running 5 Moonhawks the point stands in my book.

Cryengine was slower, had more bugs and was much worse to optimize due to having no source code access. I don't know where you all take your arguments from...

@unoptimized: that is not totally true, We simply do not supported automatic instanced objects yet.

Your knowledge of game engines seems fairly limited...
Did Torque3D have (or even support) soft body physics? No. That was up to tdev for adding that in. It's completely possible to do it in Unity.

I was talking about shadows, and the amount of GPU required to render objects, it's just excessive...

The thing is, the softbody physics do eat a lot of CPU time. Now make all of your render calls while calculating the physics and moving the objects to be rendered, as well as changing the mesh's shape dynamically in real time, dependent on sim speed. You're looking at a much more demanding render. Also, do those cars have fully detailed mechanics and interior, or are they just bodyshells with a cruddy interior and 30 polies of undercarriage?

The shadows are intense because every object gets one, and it looks damn good because of it. With that said when I'm not CPU bottlenecked I get about 1080/50-60 on Ultra settings with a GTX 760, and in the upper 40s with my R9 280. Pretty par for the course for modern, hardware intense games.

LOL, I know everything about Renderware and the engine Stuntman, Driv3r and Driver Parallel Lines runs on (iirc it's called Hamster, of all the names). In the demo files of DPL there's a debug file with every function in it.
And sorry about insulting you, but you shouldn't be having stuff about cutting yourself right out there in the open for anyone to see.

So similar to Midtown Madness 2 except the .MAP file has all the wrong addresses :p. Anyways, I guess we should stop the offtopic now.
