Hi everyone, I recently noticed some weird shading on a mod I have, it looks like triangles almost, they are near the creases on the hood on both sides. I only know one way to fix it, and that is to redo the model slightly. I was wondering if there was any other way perhaps that could smooth it out a little? Anybody know of this other way? Picture Below.
Can you send me that mod in dms, just asking due to me trying to make an edit of the original DFA (also, to fix that just open the model and apply edgesplit to the parts)
I tried that, it did not fix the problem. Any other ideas? --- Post updated --- Sorry man I can't do that, it is now a paid mod and I was one of the early developers of it.
Select the part, go in edit mode, press A to select all the vertices, then in the top bar got to face > tris to quads. When you export it back make sure you uncheck "trinagulate" in the export settings
Normals issue probably. After you triangulate the model in blender go to the Object Data Properties tab and enable auto smooth in the Normals drop down (Note: I decimated the model to show the effects better) Then add a modifier called "Weighted Normal", that should make it look better. Feel free to mess with the weight setting until it looks how you want it, usually default is ok though If that doesn't work, try going into edit mode, selecting all the faces of your model, then selecting "Set from Faces" under Mesh > Normals. Hopefully this fixes your issue!
