To be entirely honest, this is something I want to get a hold of as soon as possible. I would love to help with it in any way that I can. It's such a cool project.
Not sure how someone could help, maybe I could make a beta testing group at some point but for now it's too early for that
Wow this is really promising! I cannot play Brick Rigs because the game is too obtuse and complicated, so you pretty much bringing Brick Rigs into BeamNg is pretty cool! I would suggest getting the sound files from Lego City Undercover to use for the vehicle sounds, they have some good sound FX in that game.
You can't use assets without direct permission on the repository, so no, and I have half of the sounds recorded myself already anyway. --- Post updated --- Progress update 08 Added police lightbars and beacon lights, lots of options to select! All of them are fully customizable (meaning you can select any light color and some accessories for all of them) and have selectable flash patterns in 3 modes: standard, aggressive and very aggressive. I think these videos include most if not all of the unique flash patterns: Further examples of customization, you can make some completely nonsensical stuff if you want: Yes, the antennas can wobble, everyone asks about that lol. You can also see some new skins in the videos and images, I added them to make use of some of the lightbars. I probably won't be adding any more police skins, there are already lots of them to select from and all of them are colorable. The police configs are not finished yet at this stage, they need some extra accessories such as chrome hubcaps, more antenna variants, backlight flashers and signs, grille flashers for modern variants, spotlights and push bars. In the interior they won't have any dividers because this is a coupe and has no rear doors, but I added some other police accessories as prints on the gauge cluster where normally the tacho is: I will keep working on the police configs until I add the remaining things, then I will move on to other things for the mod.
i hope you add a donate button to this once its completed because i would definitely like to by you a coffee for making this
Brick rigs is easier to run and is pretty simple. press O then spawn whatever you want, the inventory can also be accessed by TAB which allows you to get guns.
I recently have been getting back to lego, I keep my lego cars safely in my cupboard, but I guess I can carelessly crash lego cars in beamng when this releases
There's an Automation mod for lego pieces? I could try also making my lego car with it and making a comparison between that and this mod
So I tried remaking the lego car in Automation, obviously only the default config with no customization. Visually it turned out... alright I guess? Due to a lot of pieces I needed not being in the mod I had to improvise a lot and modify the existing ones. It feels like a bootleg version of the original, worse in every aspect, meaning closer to a normal car than to a lego one, but still far from a normal car. I think it drives better due to having an actual suspension (although extremely stiff one) so it doesn't bounce around like the real thing, although it understeers a lot more due to reasons I can't explain, looks like the oversteer reduction assist is constantly trying to keep it from spinning out. Performance is very similar to the non-Automation version, although it's 120kg heavier due to having an actual body below the fixtures and it really feels, it's slower to accelerate initially and also struggles with acceleration near the top speed due to aero. Obviously it also suffers from all the normal Automation car issues like lights not breaking and not emiting light properly, janky shading and textures, reflections in the interior, etc. And the models are not very high quality overall, mine are much better, I'm not flexing but just stating the facts, compare them yourself. The crash physics is somewhat similar but not really. The pieces have more depth to them so they land on the ground more realistically after falling off, but they don't collide with each other at all and just pass through. Each one is also attached to the body instead of to the pieces below it so they don't break off in a realistic way and often end up floating mid air. They are very weak too, on a crash where the normal lego car would just lose a mirror, the whole corner gets destroyed. But the energy from the crash doesn't transfer to the pieces further away because they aren't connected, so ultimately mostly just the pieces that collide with something fall off. All pieces also have the same weight regardless of the size which means it just looks wrong when they fly off in a crash, small pieces feel way too heavy. But the worst thing is that the individual pieces can deform, but the 3D models are not suited for that so they just spike terribly when squiched. Another bad thing is that I used a body that has bad collision overall and it gets stuck in other cars, but too late to change it and I had no way of knowing that beforehand, just used a body with the same wheelbase as the mod. Also some pieces I made from several other pieces so now they break apart, best noticable on the chassis. Crash pictures on Automation test map: Some comparison between crash physics of both versions: If anyone is interested, I could release that version, not on repository though because it's laughably bad compared to the normal mod so I don't want everyone to see it lol
can you dm it to me? --- Post updated --- Wow. this is because I said there was automation vehicles that were made kinda with legos.
Released the Automation version since some people wanted it https://www.beamng.com/threads/automation-version-of-my-wip-lego-car-mod.88943/
how do the wheel hubs work? Are they using the vanilla ones? would I be able to swap the lego wheels on other vehicles?
The wheel hubs are center lug, you can put any center lug wheels on the car, and you can put the lego wheels on any car with center lug hubs. And the big offroad wheels will probably be 6 lug because they have a fake 6 lug pattern, will also be usable on other cars. I might add more wheel hub options but not sure.
Hmmm... Bolide and Scintilla with lego wheels will be interesting to drive... Those are the only cars w center lug other than covet, right?
