But it means a single vehicle can use bodyshells from various different vehicles, even if their stock version isnt in the game yet.
As for myself, I've been waiting for a Charro-based rock crawler, but this would be most welcome as well!
The difference is that no one is saying "I hope we get a tube frame heist truck because it would be disapointing and a waste to only get a street legal version of the Autobello truck"
Exactly, the trophy truck is nice to have but not as much requested as a full production model, what the majority of the community seems to desire
I dont mean to crush your hopes, but another civilian pickup has a few points speaking against it: - The D-Series exist and in late configuration has factory mounted ESC, similar to what a 2022 Pickup truck would have. - The D-Series is really fat in content in general which is great but leaves comparable little room for yet another pickup that is "only" 15 - 17 years younger. - D+H-Series and the Roamer further expand on a relative comparable chassis and engine base. I am not saying that I am against a more modern pickup, I am just saying that it might have some issues with being cannibalized/cannibalizing the D-series. Of course there is one reason that speaks for a more modern pickup vehicle: A reason some forum users are not going to like but that doesnt make it less valid: The D-Series is to old an vehicle to be realistically electrified. You are going to want a brand new chassis for that. This could also explain the lack of info about the civilian version. It will come much later, possible after the full introduction of electric drivetrains and their quirks into the game which in itself is not a small task.
If we judge what should go in the game based on that then we wouldn't get any content... The Scintilla got push back for being "just a fast car to appease the children, we want volume cars because that's what makes the game unique!" The Bastion got push back because "we have too many big American cars!" The Wendover got a ton push back because "it's just a LeGran!" The Charro got push back because "The devs give too much attention to the D-Series!" The Autobello bus and the XTV are the first new vehicles in ages that I haven't seen anyone really complaining about. Yes a lot of people want a modern pick up. But a lot of people don't either. Just look on the subreddit any time there's any pick up truck related content at all. It's always "why are the devs doing this when the D-Series has so much already". I guarantee you that reddit/youtube/twitter comments will be full of that when a modern truck does come. I understand that not everyone is into the trophy truck. That is fine, they can speak freely about that. But it is incredibly immature to say "the team needs to do X because I'll be disappointed and not interested if any content at all isn't what I personally want". Those people need to understand that there are others who are looking forward to it. The sim racing community around here has been asking for dedicated racing platforms for years, and non-street car content in general is pretty common to see suggested. Remember everyone asking about a gen 3 stock car Wendover? Or the excavator incident? Or the mass suggestions for a modern monster truck over the years?. One of the top posts on the subreddit this week is a request for literal military tanks...
Also like I said in an earlier post: The trophy truck is probably going to get fiberglass BODIES that represent different in-game automakers
I mean, the D-Series could be electrified, the AMC Pacer was electrified in 1978 --- Post updated --- Yeah, I’m one of those people who thinks it could be cool to have a modern pickup, I can also see it from others’ perspectives.
True Every car got some amount of pushback, even though they were cool, unique cars that had 1000s of hours put into them, designing them, testing them, changing driving dynamics, etc. The reason people like the new offroaders is because they are "unique, and different" Guess what all cars have in them: They are cool, unique cars that had 1000s of hours put into them, designing them, testing them, changing driving dynamics, design choices, etc. I do not understand why people argue about "the d series gets too much attention" The reason? THE D SERIES STARTED THE GAME, WITHOUT IT WE WOULD NOT BE HERE Enjoy the cars we have, because that's all we have right now Sorry for the rant, some greedy people on here just annoy me "I WANT A MODERN PICKUP" The developers aren't going to cater just to YOUR needs, they will cater to what the community wants
The D-Series is an older generation Pick-Up Truck, with the absolute basic ESC technology: On or Off. And that's it. Same for the H-Series and the Roamer too. Modern vehicles on the other hand have various different drive modes, not to mention adjustable parts like suspensions, transmissions, differentials, exhausts and even electric power steering motors and aerodynamic aids. Plus, your point in general doesn't hold any water since we have both a modern and an old Supercar (Scintilla vs Bolide), both a modern and an old Hatchback (FCVs vs Covet) and both a modern and some old American RWD Sedans (Bastion vs Burnside Special, Bluebuck and Grand Marshal). "Technology" is the key word here.
This could very well be possible, in fact I’m not even completely sure the trophy truck would release in this update. In terms of differentiating new truck from the D-series I would, from the point of view of the devs, say that it should be a non American brand, probably asian or european, and be from a smaller size class (compact or midsize). That brings us to what brand it should be. Ibishu already has 8 vehicles but Hirochi has 2 only, so of our two Japanese brands I think hirochi would be more likely for the sake of not oversaturating the Ibishu lineup. Now, if they would decide to make the new truck European, it would probably be an ETK, maybe even Cherrier as Peugeot does make pickup trucks for latin American and African markets. Autobelo is highly unlikely considering they already teased the autobelo van. It’s not impossible, however, since I’ve seen a lot of folks speculating that one of the teased buggies might be Piccolina based, so it’s possible that the entire update could be centered around autobelo in terms of vehicles (though im still not convinced this is the case) finally, let us consider the possibility of a completely new brand. I’m not sure that this is the case since it’s not too often that they add new brands, but then again look at the upcoming FPU vehicle.
Adding onto things that differentiate a hypothetical modern truck from the existing D-Series is the sheer absurd capabilities of modern full sized trucks... The 2000MY superduties towing capacity was usually around 13k lb to a hair over 14k lb depending on equipment. A top spec 2022 superduty can tow something like 37k lb with a gooseneck trailer.
And there were even (rare) electric conversion cars being sold back in the '60s, like the Henney Kilowatt (based on the Renault Dauphine). And there was also the Ford Ranger EV, an official conversion of the Ranger truck sold from 1997-2002 - almost the same years as the facelift D-Series. However, the Ranger's a much smaller and lighter truck than the D-Series - while it's not unrealistic for there to be an electric truck from the Y2K era in Beam, I don't know if the D-Series is the truck for it. A modern pickup truck could definitely have an EV version, like the Ford Lightning EV. Speaking of EVs, we haven't gotten a new one in over two years - but I don't think any of the four/five new vehicles (trophy truck/T-Rex buggy, Piccobuggy, Bello bus, and XTV) will be getting an EV version. If they are, the XTV could receive an EV version, since Argo makes the Atlas EV.
I agree, the Camper Shell Two Tone needs to make a return at some point, since I liked making trucks with the camper shell a different color from the rest of the truck.
