Oh there's a lot of reasons to want one They are a generally versatile platforms A full sized BoF truck would be a great old/new comparison to the D-Series A Bruckell truck would use existing engines, allow for an i6 diesel (not as unique now that the Autobello truck should have one, but still... It would be a lot larger and more powerful than the Autobello's). If it is a Bruckell it would add a ton to the lore A Raptor/TRX would finally bridge the gap between the prerunner and off-road D-Series. We don't have anything that is to the Prerunner what the pig is to the super pig, and that large performance gap is going to be awkward for career mode's progression. I'd prefer the D-Series get a config to fill this gap but at this point I'd be happy with anything in this gap at all... Factory extreme off road (or whatever Forza Horizon calls it) as an entire niche is completely empty currently, and it's important. IRL those things are selling like crazy, or at least getting headlines. Raptor, TRX, Bronco Raptor, Wrangler 392, all the top spec G-Wagons, V8 Defender, TRD 4-runner, etc... An electric version would be really unique and relevant to current automotive innovations and news More cargo haulers in general will be useful for career mode. If you want to do the handy-man missions without a trailer your options are pretty limited right now I have no issue with people wanting one, it's probably top 3 on my own personal wish list. My issue comes when people start saying we shouldn't be getting something else because of their desire for this. I'm sure when we eventually do get one and people say "we shouldn't get it because it's just a D-Series" I'll be having these same conversations once more defending it's existence
Newest F-450 rated at 40K for the base trim with the most HO Powerstroke, which is absolutely insane.
There’s also the possibility of modern aftermarket EV conversions, which would fit on things like the Barstow, Picco, and Miramar. I could see a White Zombie type EV drag car for the latter (look it up).
Oh, absolutely. The Miramar could even get a factory EV conversion, like one Japanese sedan of the era got. I can't quite remember which one it was, though, but it would be fairly interesting to drive. However, with how few electrics we have in general, and how the devs seem to be focusing quite heavily in the modern/off-road area for new vehicles and significant upgrades/mods to the current vehicles, I don't see any of the classic cars getting EV conversions anytime soon. I could be wrong, though. You seem to have to do that a lot.
https://www.beamng.com/threads/italy-progress.24505/page-1 I wish we had a thread like this for the new map.
Probably not what you're thinking of, but the C130 Nissan Laurel had a really crazy factory EV configuration. A 1974 volume sedan with a single rear mounted 20hp electric motor, RWD, and a 2 speed auto transmission. I'd love to see that represented in game, it's just so weird The Dev team has been doing some incredible work the past few years putting out some amazing and exciting content, outdoing themselves each time, adding new gameplay features and setting new precedents. And then with every vehicle since the Piccolina I see people say they aren't happy for with it whatever reason and think the team was wrong to make it... Can't help myself...
To be fair, a real tracked vehicle with BeamNGs physic engine is something I would also love to see. It doesnt have to be a tank.
Yes, that's exactly the vehicle I was thinking of. I thought it was a Cedric/Gloria or Skyline. Thanks for that! Yep, same. Granted, I get it - with how much longer it takes for new vehicles to come out compared to, say, 2015-2016, people want to see that huge amount of time spent go towards vehicles that they want or feel are ignored. Speaking of electric conversions, there was this electric Pinzgauer built about two years ago, and electric off-road vehicles are certainly becoming more and more common IRL. So far, the only EV we have that's vaguely off-roady is the Tograc qE, and that's a crossover. I don't think this is happening, either, but a Bello bus EV conversion would be an interesting vehicle to drive.
I hope we get a Sneak-Peek Sunday™️! Does anyone else want blacked out and/or jeweled headlight options on cars? Like the late D-Series, or the Sunburst, or Wendover, or ‘96 Pessima?
EV conversions are always possible but they run into a few issues at the moment: - If you want a time period realistic battery, range is going to be very poor. Due to low energy content of the battery, you are also limited to rather modest horsepower ratings. - If you put a modern Vivace E Drivetrain into an old car, then it will have plenty of power with instant torque available. Probably to plenty for keyboard users. You will either do more burn outs than driving or will need to add at least traction control. Being smaller overall, older cars tend to use smaller wheels, too, amplifying the problem. For example, the EV conversion of the Wigeon has so much low end torque, that even with pedals you have to be exceedingly gentle to avoid burning out.... to badly. I am pretty optimistic that seing how the auto industry is moving towards electric, that we will see more EVs in BeamNGs future. It also is yet another juicy physic sandbox to play arround with. Knowing the quality of developers work however, they will first need to do a lot of research and then code all the quirks of electric drivetrains into the game so I would not expect a particular large amount of new EVs without devs first bringing their gameplay physics up to the standard they set for ICEs. And then there is of course the option of a fuel cell vehicle. Which will require the electric drivetrain physics upgrade first, because a fuel cell vehicle basically uses a small battery as traction power source that is then recharged by the fuel cell at a certain rate. Agreed. Maybe someone will make a mod once it has been released.
That's fair, and kinda expected - the devs only released the eSBR back in April of 2019, whereas petrol vehicles have been in the game since the beginning. One interesting thing about the current EVs that I found out a while ago for a fuel-economy test challenge thing is that they're about 18 times less efficient than IRL. Which is really strange, and I still don't know why that's the case. I know there was this one old mod by Blijo - the Fintray Roadsport - had a fuel tank of about 2 gallons and an MPG rating in the 90s at 55 mph. (That's like, 2 L/100km at 90 km/h.) It's not even because of the slider for fuel in the tuning menu - that's already calculated for kWh, but the eSBR 800 still has a "21.14-gallon" (40 kWh) battery, instead of the roughly "1.1-gallon" battery it should have. It also gets like, 6 mpg, which is worse than even a lot of the high-power off-roaders.
