I think we should cut him some slack. Evidently, he's the world's smartest furry. He's currently working on a cure for cancer, man.
If i had a nickel for ever time you were a rude prick i would have enough money to hire people to remake this mod full time. I really appreciate your clarity here Fido. Not having too much time for your hobies you once really enjoyed is something i can relate to. I dont have the time i used to anymore either but certainly enough to maybe help on the 3d modeling side of things if that is something you needed! Im still a little rusty when it comes to texturing and substance painter but i know my way around blender very well. I would love to help give this mod a second lease of life
@Agent_Y If you and other people would like to update and save it, then i could take time to fix the cosmetic parts. But as i'm an independant artist, i can't promise i can work on it regularly or even achieve the goal. @Nacho Problem thanks for your support and understanding, in addition to what you said, the pain in the a.. updating the mod is that it's just making the same thing again because of technical improvment of the game, no creation anymore. I don't even answer to those who are just complaining, i'm not in the obligation for updating anything. I'm 50 yo since a few monthes, with kids, i don't have plenty of free time, and when i was in the process of creating this back in 2015, i was still working but my nights were shorter for a complete year, and this is something i can't do anymore for obvious health reasons Especially if it's doing the same thing again and again. They are more important things than updating a mod in life.
Started reworking the engine slots, so far I have this: In order to have less duplicate engines, the beater, tuned and police package engines are now just slots in the long block since they look identical anyway. The straight pipes engine got removed and instead you can remove the pieces it had cut out from any other engine. The "shouldn't work but it does", "Shouldn't work and indeed doesn't" and "Rusty engine, reliable version" got merged into beater engines and the behavior is selected in the long block, they have different slots than the rest. Still have to do the LF9 based ones, they will require me to edit the model to separate out the intakes. The Diesels are almost good enough already, but need the oil pan and engine mounts slots. Meanwhile I also updated the outdated stuff in engine simulation. And I also gave better names to the engines to make the selection less of a mess.
Great stuff! This mod got also some weird stuff with the beater and dusty/rusty stuff, like how you can make the Lights and Hubs wornout, these slots have two duplicated Parts that do that, yet only one of each works
I know, will clean everything up once more important Jbeam changes are done (the entire interior still has no collision)
Oooooooh, looking good so far. Curious question, is there any possible chance you could bring back the OG custom engine sounds? Like back when the mod was new in 2016 or so. If not, that's fine, was just wondering since I miss those sounds.
This may sound silly but this mod is so old I think it would require a full revamp/remake it from scratch. But I'm not a modder and will probably think it would be time wasting.
Even if you want to bring it fully up to date with the most recent vanilla cars, not all things have to be redone completely. The bodies and pretty much all panels can stay with little changes, most of the powertrain too, I think only the frames and suspensions would have to be redone. But why bother if they still work good enough.
@Agent_Y Good on you for updating the J-beams, your stuff is always high quality so I am very excited. Thank you for doing this. Maybe someone can update the outside textures eventually also. But I will be happy with the j-beam work.
