Any chance this mod will be updated? It looks pretty good, but it doesn't work in 0.27. I did several tests and in no situation did it work correctly. (the camera stops in mid-air while the car drives, resets and starts the cycle again)
How do I look back while I'm moving forward, it wouldn't be bad to have a button for that, because I don't like to rotate the camera around the whole car, at a speed of 200 kilometers per hour ?
I've made some changes to the mod. Changes: 1. You only look behind when you're actually reversing, you face forward again once your speed is 0 or you change gear. 2. The settings/options have been moved to the actual camera settings, that way it fits with everything else. 3. I've added the en-US locale, will add more in the future. Let me know if you want the zip so you can update it (if you like the changes)
@vulcan-dev Of course I'm happy if you share it with the community, that would be very cool And thanks for asking in advance. It might be time for a complete overhaul of this mod ...

Hello, after update if i turn camera (using key I have binded) it does not return to default position. And also i have a question about personal settings (like linearity and so on), have they changed after this update or not? Because i do not understand if there is a difference between old version of this mod and new, or i have hallucinations.
Did ya'll add the UI element in addition to switching to the custom camera? EDIT: Btw, it might be part of the bug you noticed, but I cannot rotate my camera left or right using keys or buttons while the camera is active. Mouse look works fine.

No, this mod works off of steering wheel angle. The in-game one works off of vehicle direction - it's up to personal preference which to use. I don't know if they conflict though.
No I still use the same workaround since 2017 to get the steering input into the camera. I am honestly surprised that this still works. --- Post updated --- They don't conflict since I do not overwrite any game files (a big reason that this mod survived a lot of game updates, from 0.8 up to 0.28 to be exact). But now I recommend to use the official one and disable my mod since it is now redundant. --- Post updated --- Last Update: Finally we have an alternative natively build into the game. For that reason I do not plan to update the mod any further. For more details see: https://www.beamng.com/game/news/patch/beamng-drive-v0-28/
