Re: General discussion chat Yeah, basically every time I see one I have been able to pretend to be Moog shouting chopped at people. Yet I have a 1.0 3 cylinder.
Re: General discussion chat More like blasphemy The only rime i saw a Miata was when i was driving with my dad and one just blasted past us on a curvy two way country road and dissapeared behind more curves. In a few secs a BMW Z1 passed us, must likely racing with the mx5. I have never heard a high revving vankle before, and it sounded completely different from the BMW's conventional engine. Well, it is a vankel after all.
Re: General discussion chat I don't mean to be too rude, but your attitude in almost all of your posts is like someone took a shit in your morning Froot-Loops. Shiiiiiiiiiet son. I've yet to see one at all...
Re: General discussion chat I hate these kind of people. Always grumpy, and the whole "ANYTHING I DON'T LIKE IS HORRIBLE" attitude is just bad.
Re: General discussion chat Erm, the Mazda MX-5 does not have a wankel engine, that would be an RX-7 (unless he put a rotary into it). Very tidy, though I'd prefer to see a Mazda engine in there (a bridge ported rotary would be nice) To be honest I don't really like LS swaps at all, I mean if you like V8's that much you may as well just get a Corvette. 4 cylinders is more than enough to propel a lightweight MX-5 (or any light car for that matter).
Re: General discussion chat The MX-5 has a 1.8l I4, not a Wankel. The RX-7 and RX-8 have Wankel engines. But it's the ultimate sleeper. Almost as light as an MX-5 and over 400 horsepower... I'd love to race with that just for the lolz.
Re: General discussion chat I've been trying to find that gif for a couple months. I saved it to my phone a while back but apple hates gifs.
Re: General discussion chat When we went to the machine shop to pick up the firebird block, heads, and cranked, the yard outside of the shop where the dude keeps the cars that are waiting to be worked on/finished and waiting to be picked up has a bunch of cars in it. More than cars. There were a few lawn tractors, golf carts, even a forklift. At the very back there was a crown vic. It was there when we dropped the engine off (2 weeks ago), and of course I went back there and looked at it, but it was still there today when we went to pick the stuff up, in the same exact spot. I asked the shop owner about it, and he said he did some work for it (spark plug blew out) for some dude, and when the work was done, instead of paying for the repairs and taking it home, the dude just gave him the car and moved to florida. Not sure how long ago this was, but he mentioned something about how it hasn't moved in 6 weeks. He said he wanted to get rid of it so I asked him how much he wanted for it. It's an 01, and he said he'd be tickled if he could get 1k for it. >mfw A thousand bucks for a running, working car that looks pretty decent on the outside (just really dirty). It's got high-ish miles, 188k, but its still got a lot of life left in it. It's a pretty nice inside, where most of these old police interceptors often show their wear; carpet, cloth upholstery, dash is in good shape. Lotsa pics incomming Also saw a nice Eldorado. The passenger side was the only thing that looked bad. Rest of the car was mint.
Re: General discussion chat The Corolla of Doom has met it's doom. Took a look at the blown brake line today to find that all 4 of them and the fuel lines are rusted through. It is with a heavy heart that I must say goodbye to the Corolla of Doom, may it rest in pieces. In other news, I found a 2010 Ford Crown Victoria for sale. $4,999, 122k miles. I have to have it. Test drove it, runs like a dream. Needs some TLC in the suspension (shocks, tie rods, etc.), but perfect otherwise.
Re: General discussion chat That's really cheap for such a nice looking and new crown vic. Do a pretty close look over of it. I'm talking crawl under it and look, open the hood, etc, especially if it looks like one of the more stripped down patrol cars (main indicator of that is the floor and seat material). They're beat to shit, and such a low price tag can't help but raise some eyebrows.
Re: General discussion chat Eh, it has no warning lights, I'm not particularly worried about it. I'm just worried about getting the car into my possession.
Re: General discussion chat Maybe you've found yourself a legitimate deal. These cars are tough. If there is a problem, I'm sure it can survive without it being fixed.
Re: General discussion chat Here's something that occured to me the other day. These fancy touchscreen systems in some cars, why not stick an obd reader into it as a standard feature. Its already wired up to the CAN bus, there is no hardware reason why it couldn't do that. The manufacturer just doesn't want that no doubt. If I ever come to work high up in a car company (I won't, well, actually... Not impossible) then I'd certainly be doing that.
