First-off, nice model! Those cars were like driving a couch around, with lots of room and comfort. Now, being that my late grandmother used to be head of a dealership (several), she said that the Mercury Grand Marquis had a tin frame for flexibility like the lincoln town-car, as they shared the same factory. The Crown Victoria (or LTD Crown-Vic pre-mid-80's) had a steel frame for stiffer handling. Now I do NOT know for sure if this was the case in the late 70's or 80's, but it was by the 90's. You could entirely make a Family Truckster (the Wagon Queen) out of that year crown victory or grand marquis, figured I'd mention that. Actually, that might end up being more popular than the regular version. The protagonist and family drove one in the movie National Lampoon's Vacation for those who are curious (not sure if it's just 'Vacation' or 'Vegas Vacation', old brain issues here). The source vehicle was originally a Crown Victoria station wagon.
Thank you for the comment. I'm glad someone has an interest in these vehicles. I was hoping at least to start some sort of discussion about these old cars with this thread but meh I guess no one likes boxes. I have several more boxes and land yachts I want to make, and even 90's long jellybeans like the beached whale Roadmaster wagon or complete my 97 Crown Vic model based off my IRL daily driver.
Maybe I should just post the finished product when it's finished. Oh well. This thread was worth a shot, but there isn't much interaction going on. Thanks for watching I guess.
