Yeah sorry guys.. I have no time at all to concentrate on this project until I am done with school this year. I've been doing some minor changes to the model and texture but nothing worth showing. You'll maybe see some progress while I have little vacantions or extended weekends and I find some time...(next vacantion is allready in 2 weeks so...we'll see) I also feel bad not doing anything...but I really have to concentrate on my assignments first...Just have a little more patience.

Totally Understandable that you have to focus on school. If you would like i would happily alpha/beta test this vehicle and give some feedback while you are focusing on school. If you want me to just send me a PM whenever you can C:

Cant wait for this car to be released

Did some justice to the good old Cobra Le Mans engine today :)
    q.JPG

I have also re-Uv-unwraped it and throwed the old texture away. The method I used wasn't the right one for hard surfaces and it looked like crap. I also think about buying the dDo program Mythbuster used for the 1JZ ...that looks really cool.

And people please no more posts that don't contribuite to the car. Like for example"when will it be done" expecially if it was answered one post before -.- Don't want to be mean or anything but it's just a waste of space...If you like the car but have nothing important to say except"looks cool" just leave a thanks...Or even better tell me what you have to criticize...I love those posts the most ^^
    Peace.

That's some beautiful modeling there! You should probably add some soft edges to the valve covers though, as they're a pretty visible part of the engine (and usually the first thing you look at), so they should be the most detailed part of the engine, as well as the airbox. It's nice to see to that you used a sensible amount of polies on the belts as well.

Basically, you have to add polys where you think people will look at, and use less where things are obscured, for example, I've modeled the lettering and smooth edged the cam covers on my 4A-GE, because it's very visible under the bonnet, whereas the gearbox is almost entirely concealed, so I'm just going to rely on textures for that.

The dDo program looks to be fun too (it had a very nice effect on Myth's JZX81), but keep in mind that it's only needed if you want to make the car look a bit used. To be honest, I think that a clean engine bay looks far better, as the car was new, but I guess it's up to what you desire. I think that a car this nice though would be best presented in immaculate condition, complete with a clean engine bay and underside (and as a bonus, you don't have to faff around with purchasing software or simulating weathered effects)

Thanks for the advices :) It was pretty obvious but it still slipped me. You are also right about dDo...I think won't buy it for now.

Modelwise I think the engine is finished.
I also learned how to use the curve tool -> no more funky wires. ;)

Here is the UVmap if someone is interested.

Next step is to add the normal map details. I won't start with the diffuse map like last time...it looked quite cheap.

Finished the Normal map for the engine.(still needs some cleanup here and there though..see black spot 1st pic) I think there should be enough detail...The engine block is pretty clean in real life too.

Forgot to fix the smoothing groups of the suspension...so just blend it out for now.
I'll have a free week next week and the weather is looking quite miserable so we'll hopefully see some decent progress ^^ Bad weather has done some wonders for this car :3
