Paying so much in litigation that its now thought to hold the record for the highest cost per line of code.

Its utterly ridiculous. ECU, the most critical computer we would interact with on a daily basis. It should be 100% solid in operation. Any (frankly unacceptable) failure should be failsafe, ie default state for the engine under any kind of error circumstance (easily detectable on these devices too) should be to cut rather than continue doing what it was doing or go to full throttle. Power steering systems should default to doing nothing rather than jamming left (looking at you opel, they had an issue where if the signal from the steering column was lost, the power steering would default to driving left momentarily before disabling rather than disabling immediately, they accepted that issue though and recalled it, toyota hid/denied this one). Toyota were completely reckless in their development practises.
Wouldn't surprise me if some of these cases where elderly people have lost control of a vehicle and then later been blamed for confusing throttle and brake could have actually been the fault of the ECU. Under US law and also EU law, the memory on computerised systems critical to car functionality should be fully error checked, toyota claimed theirs was, some of the datasheets for the chip they were using are actually publicly available, sure enough, no memory checking functionality at all, not even parity detection (very crude way to go about things).

My microprocessors lecturer has said he wants to beat us over the head with an oar (he also coaches the university rowing team) if we ever allow a stack collision in our projects, yet we are only working on a stopwatch let alone a tonne of metal hurtling along the motorway at 70mph.

I hate to be "that guy" but I'm wondering if there is an inputmap for the MOMO wheel? I can't find one but I swear there was one.

    Post-Your-Inputmaps!(Momo wheel map)

(i also believe the game comes with one, just change the name to the first few characters of your guid, as well as put your GUID in the file)

EDIT: yeah, there is already one with the game, it's called "CA03046D.inputmap.cs"

I honestly have no idea how to do any of that. How do I find the GUID? Do I activate it in the console or in the filenames like on ROR? (I've only ever used ROR input maps for the past 3 years. :p)

GUID will show up on the console after you load into a map

it will be something like this:

    Code:
18.324743| - Product Name: 2in1Mini Vibration Racing Wheel
    18.324773| - Product ID: 0A20
    18.324810| - Vendor ID: 05B8
    18.324848| - GUID: {[B]0A2005B8[/B]-0000-0000-0000-504944564944}
    18.324899| - 15 objects: button0 (button), button1 (button), button2 (button), button3 (button), button4 (button), button5 (button), button6 (button), button7 (button), button8 (button), button9 (button), button10 (button), button11 (button), xaxis (axis), yaxis (axis)
18.324965| - trying to load keyboard mapping: scripts/client/inputmaps/custom/keyboard.inputmap.cs - file not existing
18.325027| - trying to load mapping via VendorID/ProductID: scripts/client/inputmaps/custom/0a2005b8.inputmap.cs - file not existing
18.325102| - trying to load mapping via name: scripts/client/inputmaps/custom/2in1minivibrationracingwheel.inputmap.cs - file not existing
18.328491| - trying to load keyboard mapping: scripts/client/inputmaps/keyboard.inputmap.cs - SUCCESSFUL
    18.329143|Genius TwinWheel F1 mapping loaded
    18.329211| - trying to load mapping via VendorID/ProductID: scripts/client/inputmaps/0a2005b8.inputmap.cs - SUCCESSFUL
18.329285| - trying to load keyboard mapping: vehicles/pickup/inputmaps/keyboard.inputmap.cs - file not existing
18.329350| - trying to load mapping via VendorID/ProductID: vehicles/pickup/inputmaps/0a2005b8.inputmap.cs - file not existing
18.329419| - trying to load mapping via name: vehicles/pickup/inputmaps/2in1minivibrationracingwheel.inputmap.cs - file not existing
    18.329457| *** loading input map DONE ***

the numbers in bold are what you want to replace in the name(except use yours, not mine obviously), then the entire guid replaces the guid inside the file itself

(and obviously product name and all that will be different for your wheel)

    - - - Updated - - -

looks like it's time to get a new tablet :p (well, it's been time for that for me for a while, my tablet is actually a random generic device that refuses to run anything newer then market 3.1.3 (and i had to manually download and install that, doesn't come with the google market at all) and won't run any apps that require google play services, plus it's slow)

the nexus 9 looks amazing (and the gpu has the power of a gt 640, not so good for a pc, but for a mobile device that's amazing), has a 2048x1536 resolution screen, Tegra K1 2.3GHZ Cpu, 2GB of ram (idk what DDR it is though, i'm guessing DDR2 or DDR3 though) and the new 802.11ac standard, then a 2x2 (mimo) (ummm, whats it talking about with the last 2x2 (mimo) thing?)

oh wow, the tegra K1 also supports PC tech (directx 11, openGL 4.4, tessalation and all that) and according to benchmarks, the nexus 9 (i believe the only device currently using the K1? idk) beats every other smartphone/tablet currently available in single core, while only nvidia's own Shield beats it in multi-core (allbeit barley)

yep, definitely new tablet time, just have to wait for novemeber 1st for the nexus 9 to come out

    Computing is still time consuming...
I have now reached the point of total insanity where i am flipping the bird at my computer screen because i managed to defeat the system by copy and pasting my previous algorithms and slightly changing words. Yes i have an exciting life.

I must look like someone who hasn't slept in 5 weeks after 20 cups of coffee in one night at the moment, and all i have had is pizza...

    EDIT:
Finished, going to sleep now, 2AM :/
