If you want to download a crappy mod, go ahead. Most mods on there are safe, but remember, they're on a third party site for a reason.

This is pointless aggression. Chill out.

    This is true.
It isn't recommended to download mods from there (and you shouldn't), BUT, as long as you have an adblocker and common sense (which many don't have anymore) you should be fine. It's not exactly safe, but it also isn't dangerous (if you know what you're doing).

The only danger is that the files are not checked if they are overwriting the game and the mods are put together carelessly. May cause texture issues.

That is a true risk but isn't the only one.
The ad download links can download virus files onto your pc (which is why adblockers are so important, of which you should research because some are viruses themselves). And the quite small but still present possibility of a virus in the mod files. If you download from there, ALWAYS virus scan the file. I actually did get saved by a virus scan once a few years ago, tried to download a crappy Koenigsegg mod from there and it had a trojan virus (according to the virus scan).

Just... get an adblocker. Some are bad, do research before you download. Personally, I use UBlock Origin and found it to be fine after a few months of usage (use it at your own risk though).

I would like to see the proof for your claims. Any pictures of this "virus"?

what kind of argumentation is that
i feel like if you got a virus you’d be sweating your butt off to stop it before it completely destroys your computer, not taking pictures.

Also, 3d party site mods are either leaked privates, stolen or garbage :p

It isn't argumentation, though. I'm just skeptical of virus-related claims since nobody seems to provide evidence for such claims.
    1. Can you examples of the stolen mods?
    2. How could mods be stolen if they're already publicly available to download? I can understand leaked privates, but not the ones already public.
    3. Quality seems to be subjective, It's hard to figure out what you mean by "garbage", apart from blatant mesh-swaps.

    1. I’m not gonna look for links, you can get banned for linking sites like that :p
    2. Paid mods/mods that others who didn’t make it claim that it is theirs.
    3. Bad, like meshslaps. Sure there might be a not-so-bad mod every once in a while, but most of it is poopy crappy

    1. Then I can't trust these claims. It is suspicious that the moderation team doesn't allow other mod websites to be linked here, it may be that they are trying to eliminate competition.
    2. The Paid mods claim appears to be false, searching on such sites only results in either a redirect to the mod creator's page, or no results at all. The sites don't seem to take credit for the mods, they list the author under the credits. There does appear to be a "contact us" or "report" button in case an author wants his mod taken down.
    3. This may be due to a lack of experience in jbeaming. The sites allow for user submissions, so the quality may vary. The sites seem to have both meshslaps and normal quality mods.

“eliminate competition” my bro this is the OFFICIAL WEBSITE OF BEAMNG.DRIVE
The only reason this rule exists is because of the questionability and unsafety of such sites.

I highly doubt its to eliminate competition, afaik the devs probably don’t get any money from people using this website as theres no ads or really any way for them to make money from it so it makes no sense, its probably due to the fact of them not knowing what content is in the modland mods, like stolen mesh, jbeam ect. Its probably easier for them to block the website incase theres any legal trouble regarding modland or any other websites.

This is untrue, for some paid mods (mainly the real car mods). They usually crop up around a week to a month after initial paid release. There are a few specific accounts that do this.

I have seen the mods on Modland before used one or two of them in the past years ago but their quality is horrific and they are below the line of mesh slaps and all that its something best to be avoided like the plague!
