why is it taking so long to develop this game?

Anyway, the fact that crashing is just a result of having 'accurate' vehicle simulation in all its parts is true.
If you develop a car, it won't crash realistically if the Jbeam isn't created realistically.
That's what makes BeamNG stand out from all the simulators/driving games out here.

BeamNG is your interesting driving and crashing simulator.
Next Car Game is your action packed arcade racing and derby game.

one is for people who have time to wait to see something interesting
the other is for people who want to see the action the second they start

BeamNG has a different purpose to Next Car Game

One plans to be a simulator driving game
the other plans the be a demoliton derby game

BeamNG players want what Next Car Game has
Next Car Game players want what BeamNG has

Here is the infinite loop that people keep shoving at devs that simply won't work

Pretty much every other game community wants beamng physics

Absolutely. Put BeamNG physics into Wreckfest, Driver, Forza and a million others and behold the holy grail. Call me a sadist, (Deadpool no doubt will), but I'm kinda glad
Beam is what it is and not something that god and everybody could implement or emulate with the click of a mouse.

It wouldn't work even if they could, beamng requires a fairly powerful pc for just 1 car already, imagine the amount of cars all those other games have, it'd be a lagfest (haha, see what I did there)

That has a lot to do with this game/engine not being optimized really. Once they finish perfecting the physics side of things and get to optimization we should see this game running quite nicely. I know steam says something like 2015 as a release date but I'm not expecting this game to really be out until 2017 at the earliest. It might be buyable on steam as an EA game but it won't be out.

As soon as they move physics over to the GPU, I'm happy

how many times does this have to be said, ITS NOT OPTIMIZATION, a bunch of nodes & beams (not sure the exact amount, but it is easily way over 100) being simulated at 2000 times per second is going to be intensive

I didn't know you were a dev?? But the combo is unoptimized torque3d and beamng.

i'm not, but the devs HAVE said this before (a few times actually)

the amount of nodes & beams being simulated at 2000 times per SECOND is going to require a decent cpu though, that should be obvious

(idk where everyone is getting unoptimized torque3d, i've had no problems running it, and i'm on an intel hd 2500 for goodness sakes)

No, no, no, no, no and more no.
    It's not about optimisation.
It's about the raw computing power required for this kind of physics.

NCG or GTA use maybe 20 points for deformation, all pre-calculated on a rigid body physics model.

BeamNG, on the other hand, uses several hundred nodes for a car's structure. Connected by up to thousands of beams.
All of the physics values of these nodes and beams are used to calculate physics in real time, two thousand times per second.

So you have to, using values from each individual node and beam, and a simulation of the laws of physics, calculate the new position of every single node in half a millisecond. That requires a very powerful CPU.

    See above.

Maybe so but you can't tell me that beam is optimized already this early in it's life cycle. If you think it is your an idiot, i'm not saying that's why people can't play it I know it is cpu intensive but It isn't optimized this early on.

Sure I can, and I did, because it is, all they could do is simulate less nodes & beams at a slower pace, but you'd defeat the entire purpose of soft-body physics

And no im not an idiot, I just pay more attention to how things work, and what the devs say and do (for example gabester thanking Noahs post, which is basically what I've said, but with even more explaining)

I can't believe there's no optimization to be had for this game and engine. Yes it's obviously going to be intensive to try and run we all know that but we've seen issues where because of how AMD processors work this game struggles. I'm sure given time to work with the game and engine the devs will think of better ways for the game to utilize the tools it has to run the game. Maybe 1 core per vehicle is causing some issues, who knows.

There's a lot going on in this game and to think there's no room to make it any better this early on is just naive. Even if the devs seem to think so too, maybe in another year or so of working on this they will think of something they aren't now and it could drastically improve performance of a hugely intense game. That's the point of an alpha, not only to get ideas for the game but to also make it run as well as it can.

The only thing really keeping me from getting better FPS on this game is I don't want to OC my CPU because my heatsink on it is not that great and I'd rather not burn it out on an unfinished game.
