I found a few bugs that will delay the release to at least Friday or Saturday at best, depending on how busy I am. It might be a better release date since people would have more time to relax during the weekend and check out the mod. Stay tuned for any news.
I don't plan on adding C4 parts, but superchargers have been added. It's unlikely that there will be a wagon body since there's no good mesh of one, and it would require extensive jbeam work. And nobody will want to model one for free for the mod, either. There have been many discussions regarding a wagon body in the past, and I know there's a mesh of a Buick Roadmaster estate wagon floating around the internet, but it's way too high-poly. It would need to be remade from the ground up for in-game performance. This is without considering making other parts like rear-facing seats or door jambs, which would require even more 3D modelling, which I am not experienced in.
(it was very painful getting them to not roll off that roof) (the brakes are very very bad and the amount of times they fell off is uncountable) --- Post updated --- NICE!! --- Post updated --- wait what about this thing --- Post updated --- WRONG IMAGE SORRY
Most of the extra parts from the old version won't be included in this new version, and I don't plan on adding them back, either. The old version was around 300MB, partly because of them. Everyone has permission to make mods for this once it gets released, though. If you want, you can even make a mod that adds the extra parts back.
Bad news, everyone. I don't think I'll be able to release the mod in time because I've been having internet problems since I got home yesterday. I'm posting this message from my phone because it's the only device I have that still has internet access. My ISP said they will try to fix the Wi-Fi on Monday, but I want to give myself more time to find any bugs and fix them before I release the mod. I'll see if I can release it next Friday or Saturday night.
Evening, everyone. I'm glad to announce that the first release of the reworked Caprice is out. There are some issues I couldn't fix, but hopefully, one of you would like to help fix up the JBeam since I don't have much spare time to work on this mod. You can find the download links on the first post of this thread at http://www.beamng.com/threads/1991-1996-chevrolet-caprice-reworked.92047/
This mod is 5 stars. Like no debate. The author poured his blood and sweat in here and it shows. The car handles exactly like you would expect it too. The body roll makes this a challenging vehicle to master. But the payoff makes it so worth it. The details and extra features abound. This is up there with the greats. In some aspects it is better than dev quality. Amazing work man, just amazing
Loving the mod. As for the unstable Jbeam thing, did some experimenting to try and see if I could perhaps help you somewhat with it. Am noticing that, with the Beam Regenerator mod at least, these nodes, the red lines shown, regarding the trunk and hood instantly break and moments later the car resets because of an instability. But, when I tear off both the hood and trunk, and then press the repair button, the car does not reset from an instability. Not 100% sure if this is related to it, but maybe someone else who understands Jbeam more than myself could investigate as it possibly could be related to the unstable rear Jbeam, at least. EDIT: Also, to add to this, when using the regenerator tool and instantly stopping it, the hood immediately detached from the car, and the trunk mostly does, too.
The 1991 base model has yellow textures on the door handles, and dashboard. Strangely enough, the rest of the textures work fine, as the 1995 base model didn't have this issue.
