*UPDATE 27/05/2023!* Instead of this being a sequel to my old Australian Road map, I made it out of date, please do not download it, and I'm making this a replacement and I renamed this to reflect this.

Here's the replacement for my old Australian Road map! IT will be a lot bigger and more realistic!



So how realistic is it?!

Not an Australian, so I couldn't say how realistic it looks to Australia. However, looks really good! Seems like it will be a great map to race/ drive on. Will there be AI pathing?

I'm Australian and I live in Bathurst, NSW and these roads I made look realistic like the roads in and near Bathurst!

 

I love American Road so I'm hoping I will love Australia Road just as much, Sure I like to delete theForest with world editor turning mountains into mega jumps..

I need to escape Victoria but the fuel cost is too extreme, So I can barely escape Melbourne..

Will this map include the fenced of AU Falcon that has been blamed for killing Ford Australia?

As my photo shows, I'm a MOPAR HEMI Lover,
Chrysler Australia created the worlds quickest N.A 6 cylinder in 1971/72? that V8's couldn't catch until they were in 4th gear as they were faster but not as quick.. Check out E38 Pacer and E49 Charger.. Modify them both with aftermarket Turbo and I think they would put Ford Barra Turbo to shame..

 

Nature is so bright, you could not make it more contrasting, so that the map is more saturated

 

Well, I have some progress, I have added way more roads and I made the road texture darker to make the roads look like they are well looked after and have been recently rebuilt with new asphalt. I'm planning on adding the old texture back so I can make the back roads look more realistic and neglected while sticking with the darker material for my main roads, highways, and motorways. I'll hopefully add more pics soon! Also, when the map is complete, which hopefully will be very soon, I may upgrade the textures to PBR.

I’ve been waiting for a good Australia map! I need somewhere other than Industrial Site for my MFP stuff.

 

What do you think of this completed section?

 

It’s getting there, but here’s some tips: Australian country roads wouldn’t have that wide a tarmac shoulder. The tarmac is usually all driving road, then it immediately stops and turns into a dirt/sand shoulder.

Also, it’s missing the road side reflector posts. Australian country roads have white posts with reflectors beside them. On left side is white reflectors, and the right, red.

Looks reaaly good, try using some of the trees from Italy or Small Island for more variety

This map is a work-in-progress. The middle will be eventually and slowly filled in. It will be many months before it's complete. My goal is to have it completed by Christmas at the latest.

Fun fact: The terrain is from Mount Victoria, NSW (about a one-hour drive from my hometown of Bathurst)

Yes, I did use Google Maps just for the terrain data, all of the roads are fictional.
