This map will be getting some attention in terms of bug fixing and updating textures to never versions & updating the texture indices to the new JSON format (vs old CS format from Torque engine). This will fix various issues regarding textures. I am not specifically ADDING things to the map (not ruling it out, but specifying this to not be the point), but I just want to make it work and possibly upgrade textures when upgrading the formats to the proper supported ones. Formats used by this map only work because there's been work-arounds and additions to support legacy textures/indices in the newer version of the game. That does not mean they work reliably however. A lot of me just wants to preserve this map to continue to be presented the way I intended it, obviously just without broken stuff. So maybe in a month or so, maybe a little more/less depending on my health / real-life obligations, I will be able to upload an update for this map. If possible, I will do things to increase FPS, but I am not sure that is possible currently. In the future I will have drop-in replacements for buildings in this map, and will definitely be using these to upgrade FPS. FPS gets a hit because a lot of the lag is from too many DRAW CALLS on a scene for many not-brand-new processors to handle (which it handles by organizing and sending the GPU commands where and what to render, having too many of these makes a scene slow with one CPU core maxed with the other cores and the GPU being underutilized). I am not stopping work on Los Injurus and will still be working on that as my mainstay. This map will be getting some much-needed attention in the near term, much to the delight of many. Also, it's not unusual for updates to break things and then they start working again mysteriously after another update. This happens, it's an early access game and the formats have changed A LOT since this map was started over 7 years ago. I keep an archive of about 10 different versions of the game, so I can always load up a map that gets stuck on a newer update of the game. This also helps me quickly correct issues that cause no-loading VS only being able to do so blindly from a text editor. --That's all for right now.
I know this is a bump, but this is one of the 3 or 4 actual good highway maps made for this game. It turns out I have to delete the the art/terrain folder in AppData\Local\BeamNG.drive\0.28\levels\southernhighway every goddamn time I open the game to play this map. This bullshit about "clearing a cache" is complete bunk. Leaving this here for anyone who faces this annoying issue.
Deleting that file is one of the things that clearing cache does. Doing it manually is faster of course, but the automated process also works.
Clearing cache clears the entire game's cache, and thus all of the modifications I made in level editor for sunsky/levelinfo for other maps. So I would rather just do it this way.
0.28.2.0. When the first version of the update released whenever, it started to work again after being f'ed up on 0.27. Then the so called hotfix messed it up again. Yesterday I got fed up with not being able to play this map for a while and just randomly figured deleting the stupid terrain file specifically for this map would get rid of the ugly ass orange eyesore. Now it's working again without useless "clearing the cache", which just tampers with other level settings. And besides, clearing the cache never did anything to fix it for me. This did.
Best map for BeamNG - I only spend my time playing this map, and only this map. However I wonder what seems to cause the textures to break when I want to edit the map. I tested by just going into world editor, and then right after you click on terrain editor, it'll say there are unsaved changes - even if I change nothing and save - when I launch the map again, all the grass textures are missing on the map, then I have to unsub, clear cache - launch the game, repeat - and then sub again for it to be fixed. Shame because there are so many open areas and roads that I can also make for myself to drive on.
Is there any thought about adding one of the nearby race tracks to the map from the area? But maybe expanding what the actual track is into more of a racing facility like what is on WCUSA? I think it could add a lot to the map.
It's very unlikely that any new content as opposed to bugfixes will be added to this map, but you could try asking the author of this mod, which is a new Tennessee-inspired map actively in development.
Their might be a bug with the Roane County map. I was trying to play regular AI role play in the map but seems like the vehicles that are controlled by AI are just stuck in one place, not moving or anything. The version I am using is the latest 0.30.5. I don't know if the new version of BeamNG bricked it or if I just need to re-download the map.
I've the same problem. It seems an issue related to out of memory. I've try to reboot my PC, and finally it works well. A way to reproduce this bug is to recorder with AI script manager a path, then re-recording many times with other paths without delete the previous records.
I find that if I disable "Start freeroam with traffic", and spawn the AI using the radial menu they seem to work. Although any "parked" cars are broken.
