lucky4luuk updated Luuks Tyre Thermals and Wear Mod with a new update entry: v0.4: Major Hotfix Read the rest of this update entry... --- Post updated --- R&R is the Discord server linked in the mod page. Honestly I have no idea
Alright, something that happened with me is that when automatically updated with the repository it made it so I couldn't drive any vehicles and broke the vehicle's doors. However, deleting and redownloading the file has fixed the problem.
Just to let you know this is actually a gamechanger. I will start a programme of benchmarking wear across a range of vehicles & hopefully report back at some point.
oh awesome, i was planning on doing this myself as well by adding some features for recording telemetry it might be a similar issue to what my drafting had before, where switching maps without restarting the game breaks the mod. if this ever happens to you, try hitting ctrl + L and then ctrl + R. if that doesnt work, restarting the game should work. ill look into it asap!
Hey, does this mod work with every tyre or does it not simulate the grip with modded tyres. Also, possible mod suggestion if its possible, you know how drag tyres like wrinkle when launched, are you able to make tyres be able to wrinkle when lauching the car? Example shown in included picture. View attachment 1031467
A suggestion, will there be a way to reset the car and have cold tires? Like the feature the game has with the brakes, a way to disable pre-heated tires, I think it would be much better if we had to warm them up.
I would suspect making tyres wrinkle is computationally non-trivial. @thegamerpt You could just wait a few mins for then to cool. Or could the default starting temp be reduced?
Having to wait a couple of minutes everytime I reset my car isn't something very nice and about the starting temp, where can I change it?
I've noticed that the tires seem to wear a little too fast on wet surfaces. Certainly would be considered an edge case as wet surfaces are few and far between in beam, but maybe a post it note for one day.
My goal is to add wet tyres at some point as well, as it fits well with the concept of this mod, so this is definitely on my to-do list for fixing. Thanks for the report! You can currently not change it in Beam, but you can unpack the mod and change the lua yourself. It works fine with modded tyres, but it currently only really works with anything made for asphalt usage (so street tyres, sport tyres and race tyres, nothing offroad works well right now). Tyre wrinkling is not planned at all at the moment, I have no idea how I would do this properly without massive performance issues.
Yeah I figured, but that means that you are not planning to add a way to disable pre-heated tires, right?
im working on it, but it takes time and effort. the first few updates got pushed out quick because i needed it myself for some races and it was mainly bug fixing, but im currently trying my best to make the mod feel more realistic and incorporating more much needed information. plus ive got other hobbies too --- Post updated --- im absolutely planning on adding a toggle to spawn with pre-heated tyres or not, i just wanted to give you a hint on how to try it right now if you really wanted to. its coming!
The tires are able to go below the environmental temp, which i'm pretty sure isn't supposed to happen. They need to be sitting still for a while tho
1000km @ 100km/h in Vivace 190Sd (chosen for its range). 0%: RR @ 944km RL @ 956km FL @ 964km FR @ 976km. Carried on to 1000km regardless. Floored it about afterwards & no noticeable level of grip deterioration evident.
starthighjack/ for the wrinkle wall tires hit up revolution racecraft and download their drag tire pack. they are the shiznit when it comes to wheel and tire combo for drag cars. the ones in the pic are the drag radial, not the wrinkle wall slick and still wrinkles. /endhijack sorry
Currently the environment temperature is hardcoded to be 21C, because certain modded maps have really weirdly set temperatures and this also makes it a bit easier to tune as I know what to expect
