WIP Beta released FSO Polonez aka FPS Trapez 0.3

I dunno how many people mentioned this, but I absolutely love how they added the FPU Wydra to be perfectly in-lore with this car

For those a little less keen on polish automotive history, FSO is short for Fabryka Samochodów Osobowych (Passenger Car Factory). But there also existed other branches, such as FSC - Fabryka Samochodów Ciężarowych (Heavy Duty Car Factory) and FSM - Fabryka Samochodów Małolitrażowych (essentially Small Displacement Car Factory). So the existence of both FPS and FPU is perfectly justifiable.

There was also FSR(farm car factory) ZSD(delivery car maker) CWS(central car works) PZInż(polish engineering works) Star(a shortened name of the city Starachowice) Autosan(abbreviation of Auto Sanok the name of the city) Jelcz (just a city name) and Solaris(this one means nothing) and I think I forgot something.

So there is enough history to stuff any kind of car in the lore and no one should complain.

 

Yeah, but I’m pretty sure Solaris isn’t really associated with FSO, right? They make buses in the modern days.

And remember that the mod is older than the FPU Wydra, which means the devs made it compatible with the Trapez lore, something that doesn’t really happen…

Maybe they changed the name before public release?

 

BeamNG team either got inspired by Marf's iteration of FSO or they've made it up on their own. Communist Poland vehicle manufacturers were notorious for having names even more generic than Soviet ones.

While in the USSR you'd at least have the first letter(s) of the city in which the plant is located and then "AZ" to signify it's a vehicle manufacturer, in Poland it was just "Passenger Car Factory (FSO)" or "Truck Factory (FSC)".

So it's not that FPU Wydra was named like that to be "perfectly in-lore with this car", but rather that BeamNG team just came up with a similar fictional copyleft name. If they added a fictional Soviet vehicle I guess they'd come up with their own "xAZ" factory name and a weird numeric model name.

An entire Gavril T-series flies out of a Trapez’s trunk into the person behing them and completely annihilates them. I can already see it.
