This map looks awesome. Really nice work! Let me know if you want some help making rally stages with pacenotes.
Finally found my process to paint the roads. Lets just say, I saved myself from weeks or possibly even months of hand-painting.
I think it's worth adding a concrete barrier to separate the two lanes, not only for safety, but also for the sake of the landscape not looking so empty
Thanks for your feedback! This is already the plan! (good eye) I haven't really started adding objects other than trees, rocks, placement locations for most buildings so far. This is such a large map, I want to get all of the roads and trails ready to drive before I start adding the details like guard rails, barriers, and signs. Though it is NOT a 1:1 recreation, this map is highly influenced by real world infrastructure in this location.
oh this map, i cant wait to drive recklessly and weaving out of traffic and crash myself into tree at 304 mph
This is awesome, can’t wait to cruise around with 12 ai cars in my un-muffled 90hp covet --- Post updated --- Is there gonna be guardrails?
Of course! Once I get the terrain and roads in a more complete state, I'm gonna start doing things such as guardrails, barriers, and signs.
Today I got 16 miles (25.9km) of power grid maintenance roads, log roads, and fire roads all mapped out and added to the Caney Ridge country side.
How do ya know how many miles in roads you have? Also, can you share a pic of how you do your vegetation? I wanna see how you make your woods and if it looks good. Been redoing an old project and my terrain is very similar. Requires a ton of trees to look right, so I gotta find a way to make it look good with as little usage as possible.
Well all of that progress has been deleted. I made a mistake and now I will likely have to do it all again. If anyone wants to try and help that would be great, here is the problem. - So what happened was I renamed the terrain by mistake (trying to rename a decal) I tried to rename it back to the same thing, but when I loaded my map back in the terrain was gone. (I must've renamed it wrong.) Either way without a terrain it didnt load in my decals. The logs say it will crash if they are not removed. I didnt remove them, but I guess the game did. So all of my decals that were not set to over object automatically deleted. Is there any way to retrieve the decals that were deleted out of the levels folder? Is there a place that stores a couple of copies of the levels folder as backup? Or is there some way to add my decals back in using the persistent ids? I have the log file of when I opened the map and it didn't like the decals not being on a terrain. I'm not gonna mess with anything for a bit in case someone has a solution. --- Post updated --- So with the unfortunate events and my stupidity happening. I will be redoing all 16 miles of maintenance and log roads. I aim to use this as a good thing so that I can put more detail in lining the decals up to the trails that exist. --- Post updated --- Check the inspector when editing a decal to see distance. I don't have my forest assets finished yet.
