Reflecting back the document that talks about blocking/nice to have features. I personally feel, 0.30 may not be covering the expecting features (and I hope I am wrong), but rather, a list of either backdated or recently cropped up "issues" or less convenient items (imagine placeholder) that might have been overlooked over time that requires some attention, for example UIs, performance changes (maybe), new gameplay changes, some small rendering/performance bugfixes in vulkan or dx11, new sounds, map fixes, vehicle mesh/texture/jbeam fixes, tweaks of vehicle performance (not fps but vehicle performance in terms of horsepower and such), traffic behavior, career changes/fixes, wheel setup fixes, and probably just other rewrites. Just don't get your hopes up
Could be, they did say this in the last update post: "Meanwhile, the team continues pushing the pedal to the metal behind the scenes to ensure that the next update includes several major improvements and new features."
that was what I was thinking about, but I did not reference it. I know many people are expecting something that can change gameplay or performance wise but I'm not hopeful about it
I think the lava lamp is being looked into too harshly. Fluid works don’t seem like a feature devs would attempt to hide. The lamp mechanics can be achieved by adding toggling force fields that are car dependent (each car is assigned its own gravity which toggles when it reaches the ends of the lava lamp). Hydraulics wouldn’t be simulated by fluid flow. That’d be WAY too computational intensive. The glow being bound to props and esthetically pleasing background though; I wish to see them in game. Devs. Can we get the vehicles categorized even further in the future? It’d be nice if props were all kept in a prop tab. And more importantly, it’d be nice if a simplified lava lamp were one of them
I agree, as normally the devs are really careful about predicting what content they will deliver, however the ”several major improvements and new features ” sounds like they are quite confident
Doesn’t the tanker trailer already have fluid simulation? It can’t pour out, but it becomes lighter when it’s punctured, and it can slosh around.
I’d prefer something more similar to forza or gran Turismo. I often get lost after adding 15+ mod cars
at a certain point, some of the cars don't even fit on the screen and it starts to get annoying when looking for a specific car. Also, is it just a coincidence that the last two major updates came out on the fourth of the month?
Exactly, some of the cars don't fit in the screen and we end up missing details like roof-mounted lightbars. As for the last two updates, I think it is a coincidence they both went up on the 4th of each month since the 0.29 Update was America-themed, so the 4th of July would be the most appropriate date for it being released.
The big features that really ought be added is different configuration menus under the same common folder. For example, pre- and post- facelift vehicles should, IMO, each have their own 'menu'. All 3 generations of D-series each should have their own menu. Each car should be preset for the market the player is in. This doesn't mean every car gets that option - but perhaps add an 'international' menu. Most especially: there should be more than 2 levels of menus. Potentially: Category (vehicle, prop) -> Market -> Vehicle list (or something like era or brand, though that could get tedious) -> configurations.
Do you think we will see another new car besides UTV in the 0.30 update?According to the habits of developers in the past two years, beamng will produce two or more new vehicles in a year. And for the development of 0.30, they have five months. I think it is enough to build a new car, just like the update of 0.25.
