Okay, I guess it´s time, that I list up all the bugs and problems again, to see, if anyone is smarter than me and can help me. First: Not really problems, just skill issue: - the JBeam is edited, but very scratchy, the front bumper JBeam is totally displaced, but when I try to edit this, everything starts to clip - I dont know, how UV unwraps work - there is still no interior, because I didn´t started it yet second: Bugs, I don´t know, how to fix, where I would need help: - clear coat is not working (I have no idea, what the problem is...) - metallic map isn´t working (I guess, it is kinda working, but in Color menu in Vehicle customisation, you can´t change anything) - still have no clue, how glowmaps do work openables: - tailgate of the hatchback version opens automaticly, when you reset the car and opens a short time, after closing - both hoods won´t open, even, if interior trigger is activated - tailgate of the combi version won´t open too I know, this may sound imposible, to fix all this bugs, but if I remember, where I started, this is okay, I guess. Well, that´s it for today, I hope, anyone can help me, especially with the texture issues. Greetings, Schmitti PS: This is my current stand, with all textures applied on the car. Due to clear coat is not working, it looks a bit matte, but better, than nothing!!!
That looks nice I like the fact that you are not one of those that say ,,this is too hard" You say ,,nah its just a skill issue i'll fix it"
Yes, I don´t have the goal, to give up. This is the car, my parents drive and love and I love it too, so if I cancel this, I simply would be disappointed in myself and I don´t want that!
I have a short question: Is it legitim, if I use 3d model parts from vanilla cars in my mod? Because I´m working currently on some parts swap and would like to know, if this is just time waste, or progress...
Honestly, considering your dedication to getting this mod off the ground and having bugs fixed then I would say its excusable to use some parts from other vehicles, but it might be worth replacing them in the future when you feel confident modelling more components. I think the thing you need to take away from this is that working on this mod is great experience and with time you're going to become a lot better at modelling. Don't worry about trying to get this mod released quickly, just work on it bit by bit until you're happy with what you've achieved and learnt from the process.
Yes. Utilising vanilla parts is a good idea, especially for someone’s first major mod like this. I often copy engines from other stuff and just change up the sounds and torquecurve (aka how much power it makes etc)
Okay, I haven´t made any big progress today, but at least, I implemented some interior parts from the etk800 (still without textures). I tried to add another big thing and I where partly successful, but I want to show it, if it´s completly ready and this will be tomorrow, if I hurry. Greetings, Schmitti --- Post updated --- I have another question: If you go into the beamng files, there is an folder called "temp" and there is an folder, named after my mod and in this is a ".cdae" file and DDS versions of my textures? Is this important? I have no clue...
Nice to see some progress! As to answer your question, that is (AFAIK, understood through only speculation and connecting dots so may be wrong) the legendary cache that people have to clear if they have issues. Basically, when you have PNGs and DAEs, the game makes DDSs (Direct Draw Surface) and CDAEs (Cached DAE) which load faster than their original counterpart. In-game vehicles only have DDS textures (no PNGs included unless it only uses a png), and their folders include both a DAE and CDAE. So basically it’s just to save load times.
Ok, thanks for the explanation, but I have one huge problem, I can't solve with deep cache clearing. I started working with the textures of the Ibishu Pessima(second generation) and now every time, I load this car, it is invisible. I deep cleared my cache, dueto other complications several times, but it is still broken. I have no clue, how to fix this...
Completely invisible? Could you maybe look at the debug log and see what it gave? Maybe send it here?
So propably something is wrong with the dae or cdae, I’d guess. Press the button on your keyboard below escape (I call it the ~ button but it’s actually the ` button - both of those are in that key) to open the debug log.
Sadly, both of the keys dont work. I have a photo attached, of my keyboard, maybe, you can show me exactly, which key it is..
Oh, that makes sense. Your key is different. Maybe you can change the keybind in the settings? Try that.
Ok, I got it. It shows (from the number all) parts of the vehicle, first with "not found" and then with "unable to get render mesh" (I made a picture, which shows a part of it. I have no clue, how to fix this...
I watched it and... It´s missing, but where, I should get a new one??? It seems, I accidentally deleted it...
