Dethleffs cJoy! 460LE -a modern camper caravan- As a side project, I have been working on adding the Dethleffs cJoy! 460LE, a modern camper caravan that is currently not available in BeamNG. Dethleffs is a German brand that specializes in building campers. My mod will be limited in scope, with only two or three configurations available. The exterior jbeam is based on the existing in-game caravan, while the interior jbeam will be custom-made from scratch. Released -- on ko-fi [FREE+] CREDITS 3D-Mesh | SKETCHUP !! IMPORTANT !! This modification will not be released on the Forum. Due to the Forum rules its not allowed to use 3rd-Party 3DModels without permission of the author. This mod will be public and free on my ko-fi page.
DUDE! It is so nice to see more caravan stuff, it's something that the game needs! Now I cannot wait for an actual motorhome! Thank you so much
This is incorrect, you're not allowed to use models without crediting them or if the author has specifically disallowed it (at which this point you shouldn't be releasing them anywhere regardless) This mod would be allowed on the forums, it's the repo you're not allowed to post it on without permission. Forcing people off to an external site where you need to sign up to use, especially one covered in options to may for people is a surefire way to make people not want to download your mod, or just get it from other external site that doesn't force them to mess about with accounts. As a side note, a 5 euro subscription for early access to a model you mostly did not make on a jbeam you mostly did not make yourself? The early access model is generally considered to be more accepted but this seems like it's pushing it a bit, this is usually reserved for fully scratch models and high effort jbeams. The original model doesn't look like it's the greatest quality in the world and the screenshots don't exactly seem to show off the intricacies of a mod's quality that you'd want to know before subscribing to payments of 5 euros a month to recieve a bit early
If u don’t want to pay 5€ for a camper caravan, fine, but u also get access to my skoda octavia and other mods that will be made. also the mod will be free after it’s finished… so u just have to wait… other than that I’m not forcing anyone to do something they don’t want to … in the following a quote from BeamNG moderators which claimed it is not allowed to use models without the permission of the author.
Since there has been some confusion regarding the forum rules on the Mods section, I would like to take this time to clear up any misconceptions regarding said rules. Given that there have been an increase in paid mods (as well as paid early access like this one) within the past few years, I'll be relying on the guidelines posted by Nadeox1 to hopefully set everything in stone for everyone. The first thing I'll be clarifying is this disclaimer at the end of the original post. I think you got the forum rules of posting mods and the repository rules mixed up. The repository guidelines are more strict than the ones for the forums. In a nutshell, for a mod to be allowed on the repository, permissions must be explicitly obtained from the original author if the content (for example, the 3D model) is from another source. It's worth mentioning that a handful of mods on the repository fall into this category, meaning they got the permissions from all parties involved. If we were to go by your logic, then almost every mod posted on the forums (Chiron, S60, Defender, I could go on) would also be forbidden. Yet this logic falls apart instantly, and these mods remain up today, so why is that? Using a pre-made model, whether it'd be from another video game or a website, is allowed only if sufficient, proper, and appropriate credits are given. This is mentioned in the guidelines: Since you have done this in the original post and provided the URL to the model, this alone should be enough. Therefore, you are allowed to post the mod on the forums, and it will remain up unless the original author of the credited source files a copyright claim (or cease and desist), which is also mentioned in the guidelines. Essentially, all you need to know is that the forums and repository are two separate environments with their own set of guidelines. The next point I want to address is your reply to AgentMooshroom5. What he posted regarding the credits (quoted above) is correct; the whole misinterpretation from said disclaimer likely stemmed from the ban appeal email you received regarding the Volkswagen T-Cross mod. Setting aside the fact that you wanted to change your username back then, the guidelines provided in the email is applicable to the repository. If the message you were given was supposed to be for the T-Cross mod, then it probably means someone at Volkswagen filed a copyright claim, which could explain why it would not be allowed on the forums. But the problem is that you made another thread for it, and that one still remains up today. Shouldn't it be removed according to the email? Of course not, because said guidelines do not apply to the forums, but rather the repository. In addition, you gave proper credits to begin with, so that is why it remains accessible (albeit providing the Ko-Fi link as well). I explained that in the first point, so I won't have to repeat myself here. Finally, to address the elephant in the room, there is nothing wrong with using an external site if attaching a mod on the forums isn't feasible. Usually, that would be because of the file size limit: 488.3 MB. Anything larger than that, and you will have to use Google Drive, MEGA, or a similar file-hosting website. Some users have also used Ko-Fi or Gumroad to host their creations, and that's reasonable. The guidelines have elaborated this: In conclusion, I hope that I thoroughly explained the forum rules to the best of my abilities. In short, as long as you give the appropriate credits, you are free to post the mod on the forums. However, even if you want to be better safe than sorry, using an external site to host your creations is allowed. Those are my two cents into this discussion.
Thank you for taking ur time and write all of this. But I still see things a bit different. They wrote this in relation to the Volkswagen T-Cross mod which is as u all know not a Repository mod, it was a normal forum mod. Why should they write that in there mail? It would be an honer to me if Volkswagen had seen my T-Cross mod but chances are nearly 0%. So I’m pretty sure it not why it got removed. what I know, or think had happened is, that many users had reported the thread to the moderators back than. Which is also my answer to this quote: nobody complaint = nothing happened so to summit all up. I can understand ur point but as long as BeamNG moderators themselves comment how it really is. Everything stays the same. This hole discussion only started couse of one person who didn’t like paid early access mods and needed attention. so please no more off topic posts !! even if those mods would be allowed on the forums, it’s my decision where I upload them so there is no need to discuss it any further. ur da_xx
