I had an idea today while I was playing that I felt was worth pushing forward to the developers and players for support, as I feel that my concept for a new feature would allow for a significant improvement of gameplay from the first-person perspective. I noticed that while I was practicing drifting this morning that it's a bit of a struggle at times to maintain situational awareness while I am midway through a drift, resulting oftentimes in me misjudging when to apply or release the throttle/brake, ultimately leading to a crash. What I felt would make a good improvement would be building a system similar to the camera horizon lock, but instead of locking the camera to the horizon, it would keep the camera centered on the vehicle's velocity vector or direction of travel. This would keep the player's view in a position that would allow the player to see the incoming obstacles and allow for finer adjustments to be made, avoiding unnecessary crashes. A feature of this nature would mitigate the need for head tracking in a lot of gameplay situations.
Is this not already a feature nowadays with the driver camera update that we got a while ago? In your camera settings you can make the camera turn more, and it seems to look in the direction of your velocity.
I thought it seemed like it was a bit of elementary feature to not already exist, but I wasn’t able to find a camera setting that followed the velocity vector, if anyone can tell me which specific setting allows this i’d appreciate it.
