We are aware of some crashes/issues, that's likely the reason for your problems. I don't have an ETA for a possible fix, but it's on our list.

Regarding VRAM usage, keep in mind that there's some memory leaks, where toggling VR on/off several times will gradually increase the GPU use. Changing graphics settings might also increase VRAM use. So for now it's best to avoid doing that (if that was your case).
Otherwise, just try to close as many background programs as possible, as those often contribute to VRAM use.

Yup, the missing controller dots are a known issue. It looks like my computer is the only one in the world where it works correctly, I'll have to investigate :D

Thanks for all the feedback and for the kind words, appreciate it!
Several of your listed issues are known, the rest are noted down, as well as the suggestions. We'll see what we can do :)

I love this game so far in VR. But some things seems very inconsistent in how they work. Like the key bindings.

Sometimes something work and other times it don't.

I spend a lot of time just trying to figure out minor issues instead of actually playing; like how to get inside the car behind the wheel! Or recenter my view. The keys just suddenly will stop working.

    It's very confusing!

    Edit:
"Recentering by clicking menu button is not working. Please use Ctrl+ Num5 (ensure numlock is ON and the BeamNG window is focused)"

    aha! found the issue!

I tested the VR support yesterday, and I was floating a few meters above the car after centering.
The keybind didn't worked for me, only clicking the centering button on the menu, but then I was floating.
(I never used any of the mentioned third party apps for positioning)

Then I realised that the ctrl + numpad5 WORKS for me only if I turn On NUMLOCK.
When I pressed the keybinds (ctrl+numpad5) with the numlock ON, I hopped inside the car finally, and not floating like poor Max :D

Another issue, like others is the sound.
It comes from the VR by default, but when I turning on vr mode, it goes silence.

I have a Meta Quest 2 if it matters.

Good job guys anyway, the long waited VR support will be awesome after a few tweaks and fixes!

Yes! The game is extremely fun in VR despite some minor issues! I'm considering upgrading my PC now just because of this game!

Anyways, anyone know how to disable the mission markers that only display in one eye?

Heads up: we just released BeamNG.drive v0.30.1 hotfix, where I addressed a few of the known VR issues. There's more fixes in the pipeline that didn't make it to 0.30.1, so please hang tight while we continue to stabilize VR further :)

Could you please ensure you have update to v0.30.1 (released some minutes ago), and then paste a support ID number here? Thank you!

First off, thank you for finally adding VR, been anticipating this addition for years!

I'd like to throw out a report for my experience so far.

    Specs:
    • 2070 Super
    • i7 9700k
    • 32gb ram
    • Valve Index at native resolution
At first, I thought VR was going to be completely unplayable for me. I was loading into gridmap, then starting VR, and it would be slideshow framerate, 1-5fps, no matter the settings.

After that, I thought to try starting the game, activate VR, THEN load into a map. Following that order, BeamNG is running as expected in VR.

I am still tweaking to find ideal settings but currently I am running stable reprojected 45fps or more everywhere using the following:

    Mesh - High
    Textures - Low/Normal
    Lighting - Normal
    Shaders - Normal
    Shadows - Partial
    Texture Filtering - Low
    Anti-aliasing - SMAA
Post-processing - Normal (with all post processing turned off except for ambient occlusion)
    Dynamic Reflections - Resolution - 512x, Detail - 1.0, Update rate - 2
Grass Density - .25-.5 depending on the map.

    I haven't tried traffic yet.

Currently it seems the biggest hit is the texture setting. I'd also like to have the mesh detail render further out. I'm not sure if this is an illusion, but it seems that the pop-in specifically for foliage is really bad in VR for some reason.

The quirks aside, I'm having an absolute blast with the short time I've spent. Crawling and trailing in VR just gives a feeling that cannot be matched on flat screen.

TL;DR - I'm not sure if I am alone in this boat but if yall are having unplayable framerates, just try activating VR mode on a fresh start BEFORE loading into a map. For whatever reason, launching VR after loading a map makes the game 1-5fps.

    Hey everyone,

I'm new here due to the recently added VR support. I just can't seem to get the game to launch in VR. I have enabled VR within the BeamNG options menu and mapped launch VR to a button on my wheel. When I load a map and press the mapped VR button I get a message pop up, (image uploaded), I press the button again and the message disappears but I still just remain on the monitor.
I have tried starting Steam VR before/after launching the game in Vulcan mode. I have tried running in OpenXR and SteamVR mode but I always get the same message.

    AMD 5800x
    RTX 3080
    32GB RAM
    HP Reverb G2

Are there any others experiencing the same issue as me?

Yea. For me it sometimes takes several times to reset the game and Oculus software. Its pretty random.

I've been reading messages about problems with the game in VR mode. but strangely enough, everything works fine for me. Yes, sometimes when a car appears on the map, the camera can be anywhere. But the camera reset button installs the camera in the “driver’s eyes”.
By the way, I noticed another problem: when you select “map” in the menu, the map is not displayed correctly and it is impossible to select points

How do you think I have a VR button in my display settings if I hadn’t already updated? I also realize my most recent message didn’t mention it but I am seeing the pop up that comes up when enabling VR, but nothing happens after it. I’ve already updated the game to 0.30 and restarted my computer countless times trying to get this to work. I’ve also already had steam verify the game files integrity. I will now update to 0.30.1 and try that.

Yeah, i took my Vive from the closet and wanted to try this.
But i seem to either float above the car or weirdly infront of it. Other games seems to work fine.

I think they may have improved this in the hotfix but what works for me 100% is to recenter the view in the steamvr dashboard THEN hit the ctrl+num5 binding to recenter on beam's end. You'll need to do this upon loading a new map.
