Here are the rules of the thread: Be honest Don't be against what other people think and be open to what others think Make it clear for others to understand Don't forgett to follow the rules of the forum Please follow all the above rules so we can all have a great experience here Also the way it work to reply: Please say the resons why you think it is slowly dying, or if you don't think it is dying, just say it. Say what you think could save it, or if you think it is not dying, say what could be harmfull to it that is presently happening I found that the automotive industry is really bad in the last 2.5 years and that it is slowly dying, I'm sure in 50 years it will be completly dead Here is what I think is harmfull to it: Prices: Prices of cars are getting MAD, like in the past a 50k$CAD truck was full equiped, now it is the base truck and dosen't even have LED lights or heated seats, like here in canada, a GMC Sierra Denali ultimate if you calculate with the taxes, it is over 150k$CAD. Like even Chevy Trax price has raised of like 5k$CAD in 2 years time plus the new refreshed model raised it of like an another 5k$CAD, and this is really not just a situation with GM, like in the past, a Toyota Corolla 30k$CAD, now it is like 40k$CAD EVs: I think electric vehicle is the worst invention on the planet, it is gonna destroy the planet, the amount of polution it is making is bad for the earth, it has even been proved by scientific research that it takes 6-24 months of daily driving for a brand new EV to make less polution than a brand new ICE car that is daily driven. This is without talking of their bad range Marketting: Marketting used to be great in the car world, but not anymore because of one person that changed everything about marketting in the car world, This person is a woman, and her name is Alexandra Mary Hirschi (more known as Supercar Blondie), she literally changed the definition of marketting in the car world, I don't really like her channel, beacause they are more commercials than videos, but if she dissapear tomorrow, the car industry too, plus I believe she is manipulating us to make us believe all sort of BS to make the cars seems better than they really are and things that I can't really name here or the thread will get deleted beacause they are explicit things. For the price problem, I think they could stop making useless features and stop making everything electronic. They could also stop making every features standard. EVs: They shouldn't make EVs, this is the only fix. Marketting: I think it is too late, she has already taken over the car industry. She is controlling it now and it would make the car industry dead for like 3 years if she dissapear. She is an exceptional human, because she is manipulating us in a way we are so unaware of it. I hope guys you have a great day.
honestly as someone who likes cars i think evs are great and are improving fast. Its not just pollution, i can see why they could become great for the average joe that just wants to go from point a to point b. easier to drive a lot less mechanical. less maintenance, lots of power, very quiet. no having to wait for a motor to warm up. you just press a button and go. no having to worry about fluid changes or repairing one of the many things that can break in a combustion motor car. I dont like evs cause i like cars that are fun to drive. if it doesnt make me smile i wont drive it. The fact is the takeover of ev's is inevitable. Battery tech and evs will only get better from now. Only thing you can do is enjoy combustion motors while you still can. Power grid cant handle all evs right now and there is still tons of used cars out there EV's will get more popular but i think it will be a long time till the government or states out right bans combustion motors. atleast i dont think it will happen in my lifetime. personally in the united states at least i believe the government should spend more into public transport so the people who dont want/need to drive or cant drive have ways to get around reducing pollution. Theres a lot of people i know who dont like to drive but its a requirement in the states to have a car cause public transport is so bad.
It's not just about pollution like you said, it is also about electricity quantity, danger of EVs, maintenance cost, and cost of these vehicles. Which kinda realate to my opinion about prices. And for marketing, it is kinda more of a opinion and the 3 quarter of the paragraph which talk about her has probably been written with my ego to be honest, but it is still true in my opinion. It is up to you to decide what you think about it. And for the way she is manipulating us and lying to us is clear. She's paid to lie, she is manipulating us into really disgusting "P" content, she is trying to get us sucked in a deep rabbit hole.
I'm finding one issue with this argument. If, Supercar Blondie as you say, is the "core" problem of this whole situation, then why haven't I have seen any of this so called "marketing" that you say that she's been behind? I watch a lot of car related content on YouTube, but I've yet to see her any of her videos or anything from her at all, there's a bunch of other people, companies, whatever, out there that even never have heard of her before that has the same mindset. Otherwise, if you hate her that much, why not just block her channel? It's very clear that you don't like her, and the algorithm only starts to show her content is if you've been actively watching her videos. Like, going off from most of your other posts, you've been shining a spotlight onto her more than anyone should care. I'm just saying this straight out, you've got a fixation on her, and that ain't healthy bud. To be on topic, this is the way how I've viewed it. The automotive industry is at a point where manufacturers are I'd dare to say "testing" on what would be feasible for the future, considering what makes a car go. What they've all been doing for several decades, is the same thing, (i.e. building ICE-powered vehicles) and for them to transition into electrification is a totally new world. Of course some companies have ditched their engines and gone full steam into electrification, some are discontinuing their bigger engines in turn for smaller ones that make more horsepower and is also more efficiently comparatively, some are going for hybridization, the list goes on. The reason why EV's have been banking on the popular trend as of late is because of how "easy" it is to switch over, and also as what trm7 has noted, the average person nowadays that is looking into buying a car, would rather have one that gets them from A to B without all the needless hassle, and considering that an EV has much less to deal with than a regular ICE car, and running costs are objectively "cheaper" in some cases, but considering that there's a demand for this, and more and more people are buying EVs, that gives manufacturers a reason to adapt to that. If I had to throw my two cents into this, personally I'd go for hybridization or alternative fuels. Like I said before, since some manufacturers have started ditching bigger engines, which is a shame in the car enthusiast mindset, but for something that's smaller, is more fuel efficient, but makes much more power is also an attractive idea, and with an electric motor to assist to give that extra percentage in power and efficiency is also another plus out there. Alternative fuels is something that wouldn't take much to adapt either. For example, diesel engines can run on old cooking/vegetable oil fine, it's burning something that's less toxic than fossil fuels, and so to develop a fuel that could substitute diesel and gasoline wouldn't be out of the picture, but like everything else, there's also drawbacks, so it's all in the matter of time to see what will become successful in the future. Also dropping this disclaimer, because I'm 95% sure that this post will generate such a reaction but, No. I'm not defending Supercar Blondie, nor do I follow/watch her content. You can say all you want, but putting her as the "main" reason for all this supposed manipulation is frankly rather funny. If anything she's probably at best 0.005% part of this so called problem.
Grab your popcorn because this reply will be longer than yours. So, for the case of Supercar Blondie, maybe you mean more 50%? Anyways, so, if we look at the case of GM EVs (which we neede to look at to understand the problem with Supercar Blondie) sales in this Image right there: https://ibb.co/5jrGnXf, we can clearly see she is a big part of the problem, you don't neede to be a genius to understand she literally is a big part of this problem. When she started making marketing for GM's EV's in end of 2021, we can see the sales as spiked like a couple of months after (because of the time it takes for every people to see the video and recieve their cars at the dealer) if we look at this graph here: https://ibb.co/s30pCJm. We can clearly see that she is a big problem. If we go from that principal, we can say she is a big automotive industry "killer". The thing that is dangerous in this is that, if someday, she is wiped out of YouTube, Instagram and Facebook, GM is going nowhere with EVs. This is called the influencer game, you know it right? Well, to explain it in all simplicity, it is basically a race that appeals to the marketing and business game. And a of these small little games (and ther is so much more small games) appeals to one enormous game, the money game. But apart of the money game, the influencer game is stupid, and it cannot be won. And stupid people are the only people that play the influencer game in my opinion. But there is a catch in this, if you play the influencer game and buissiness game at the same time, you're not stupid, in fact, you're really REALLY intelligent, and that is what most big influencers do (including Supercar Blondie). So we basically can see here that she is all doing to make the automotive industry killed up. Concerning EVs, I think that if we can find 0 pollution fuel (which already exist) that dosen't suck in terms of price, we could actually find a way to put EVs in the garbage and stop making useless pollution with electric vehicles. I always thought EVs is a big scam, and is still a big scam. Conclusion: my message wasn't as long as yours, but we can see that my 3 arguments here are realated toghether.
....None of that makes any sense or whatsoever, both of those links just show EV sales, where exactly does she come into play? How does she directly correlate to all of it? Do you have definitive proof that she's telling people "go buy EVs"? Influencing is one thing, but she isn't straight up advocating/trying to make people buy EVs, She isn't directly affiliated with GM, nor has she even have any official ties, all she's done is just review the Hummer EV, and driving a Buick concept car. She's got her own website, but again, all she literally is, is just posting about it, none of it shows any propaganda or whatever that she'd be trying to push such a thing. She isn't going insanely viral just because she's done basically what anyone could have. Tesla themselves have had increased sales because they slashed their prices literally in half, and that's literally it, the prospect of something that's more affordable, with the "benefits" of an EV over a regular car brought in sales. Ford did the same with the Mach-E, GM saw this and of course jumped on the bandwagon by offering/putting more effort on marketing their own. Nissan, Hyundai/Kia, Honda, they all have produced EVs that are at a much more affordable price. Gas prices as of recent has been rising, which made some people look towards EVs as a more "affordable", not to mention how "convenient" it is, I'm not the one that vouches for EVs, but I can see and understand how much more easy it is for the average person to simply plug their car in to charge at home, rather than having to go to a gas station to pump gas. I've met people who are all for this, and none of them have been "influenced" anyone. This is also the reason why all manufacturers have been replacing their sedans, hatchbacks, etc. with crossover SUVs, all the "pros" start to weigh in, and people go for that. Also why a lot of EVs look funky as hell because they're also trying to hit two birds with one stone at being more affordable while also being practical. Now as I say "affordable", it's pretty obvious that isn't all the truth, and in the long run, some EVs, Tesla comes to mind, they aren't cheap at all, but everything else of what I just said still holds merit. As I've said it before, you have a fixation on her, and none of this backs it up. Shit ain't healthy.
The graph literally show that when she started making marketing for GM, the sales as jumped hi, just after she started, the 1st graphic was kind of proofless, but the second one really shows it. GM saw their sales dropping, so they called her, everyone ordered their EVs and it is what it is, and I know it because the sales aren't added to the stats until it get out of the dealership's driveway. I'm from a small town in New Brunswick Canada, and I don't know any persons who have a EV and bearly saw a couple of EVs because in here in New Brunswick, people's average age is old, which mean less suspectible to get influenced by influencers because they are less on social media, plus old people rarely plus old people rarely buy EVs. And every people I've saw driving a EV here in New Brunswick are like 20-30 years old. There is only 1 exception when I saw a old guy in Moncton driving a Tesla Model S and Tesla dosen't even do marketing. So this is an another clear proof she is harmful to the automotive industry. And there is also the influencer game like I've already explained. Here is a video from Cassey Putsch who explained the BS that Supercar Blondie has told with the 300slr and he also talks about the influencer game: Also, I find the fact that everywhere I post on her, that everyone says I'm obsessed with her absolutely hilarious.
You still haven't provided any definitive proof that she works for GM, nor have they officially contacted her. That's not how shit works, there isn't nothing that shows that she's officially marketing for them, and that second picture doesn't give any further proof other than you saying "trust me bro, its true". The demographic between a small town and a large city is obviously vastly different, of course an EV wouldn't make much sense for something of that environment, and obviously you're not going to see one at every corner. Also you've literally proven your point by mentioning that the average person's age that lives there is of the older generation/variety. Plus why would they be susceptible? Supercar Blondie isn't targeting towards them, and of course they're not going to watch someone and go "oh, she talks about EVs, I should go buy one!", like, why should they? If whatever their driving is giving them transportation between work, home, grocery store, whatever, why would they need to replace a perfectly working car with an EV? Nobody's forcing them to That one exception of that older man driving a Model S, even if Tesla doesn't do any marketing, it isn't that hard to come across a Tesla, whether it be for sale, or someone else driving, and if it interested him enough, what's stopping him to go and buy one himself? It's his money, and if he's genuinely happy with the car, so why make such a fuss? I'm also going to point this out. Correlation =/= Causation. It's not just GM that's had an uptick in EV sales, Ford has done the same thing, and they obviously have not hired any influencer to do marketing for them, again, there's several factors that compound onto why people are starting to buy EVs, but it isn't because someone told them to as what you keep believing. I don't see how that video equates to this argument, nor does it even relate to her "destroying" the automotive industry. In hindsight, he's got some beef with her, big whoop, but there isn't anything in that video that definitively or explicitly proves she's causing any harm. Overall, if you're finding that people are telling you that you're obsessed with her, are they wrong? Either way, I've invested more than enough time in this, so I'm leaving it at here.
Of course bro they will hide the fact that Supercar Blondie work for them as most as possible to make it credible as most as possible. I mean, my second graph could be a coincidence, but how much this is precisely so well time with the release of the video is insane if so. When I mean I've bearly saw a couple of EVs, I'm talking about all of the New Brunswick combined. All credibility points ruined right here. You're saying exactly what I've said right here: like if I would have never said it before. Of course 60 years olds are not gonna get influenced by a random Aussie blonde women that is saying to go buy an EV. That means nothing, Ford and GM are 2 completely different companies, which mean they probably don't take the same decisions at all. Yes but he talks about the money and influencer game, which is really important to understand this argument if you go see above in my old messages. It's not an obsession, I'm trying to warn people. But everybody think I'm a "troll" or that I'm wrong in my head or that I'm obsessed with her. But I guess that if nobody understands, I'm better stopping here instead of getting some hate (and even got ban somewhere because I was just telling the thruth). Yeah, I think I also have invested too much time in trying to convince you that I'm right. I think we should both go touch some grass Also, don't point my bad english.
