This morning, on my way to school, I saw a German "Wechselkennzeichen" for the very first time and I took a picture of it. And then, an idea came to me: A BeamNG thread for license plate spotting! Here you can as many exotic license plates as you want!
Old image from 2021, but this is one of my favorite plate spots. It's kinda hard to see, but it's a Wisconsin trailer license plate numbered PR 697. The top letter "P" is a weight class code corresponding to 56,001-62,000lbs, and the numbering started in 1994 at PR 1. So, even after a full reissue of all P weight class trailers and nearly 30 years of this numbering system, less than 1,000 of these plates have ever been issued, so yeah these plates are very rare to find and it's the heaviest weight class trailer plate I've ever seen on the road. To top it all off, it's also a quarterly validated trailer plate, which again is something I rarely find. I've got detailed ranges documented on all the trailer plates known to be issued in the state of Wisconsin across all of the 20 or so weight classes; anything above the "G" weight class of 26,000lbs. is rare, and anything above the "L" weight class of 50,000lbs. is almost unheard of to find and I've only ever seen 5 of these plates in my 5 years of tracking these plates, and none of these weight classes break beyond 900 for their respective weight classes. I've only spotted one P weight class plate and three T weight class plates, one of which is one I traded for at a plate meet and is now in my collection so I guess it really doesn't count as a "spot," but that's all the trailer plates I've ever seen in my 5 years of Wisconsin license plate research, including all previous bases of plates going back to 1940.
I unfortunately don't have any pictures, but not that long ago I've seen a F-150 with South Carolina license plates. In western Germany, that is.
Just saw two new plates on my way to the train station today: Swiss temporary license plate from Lucerne Croatian license plate from Zagreb
No image, but I saw my first Wisconsin fleet license plate in my town today, and it's a new high number for the fleet plates by a couple hundred numbers, being numbered around 20500A F/T. Crazy to think that the plate guys around Madison saw them like two weeks after release and it took me 10 months to find one in my small town.
semi trucks from Turkiye in Germany are not that hard to find, i saw alot of them in germany. in france and benelux they start to get rarer, and on iberia i couldnt spot any at all. here is a license plate from Morocco i got to take a picture of,they are not that hard to find in spain and in the west terrains of france. i will ask one next time in english if they have any moroccan coins because i like coins with different alphabets (morocco has arabic alphabet on their coins).
Yeah, just posted this in here to fill the "gap" When I was in France last year, I saw a Syrian license plate. I know I took photos of it, maybe I can find them (I moved all my photos from my phone to a USB stick to make room ) --- Post updated --- Might post some Polish plates as well as my little village is pretty much just "Little Poland"
syria is pretty far away from france, i wouldnt even know what country it would be if i spotted one also i saw a few georgian license plates in germany when driving through the country, these are my guesses what routes they took from georgia to there, but i think the most common one is through turkiye
I know. I was also very confused at first, but it was a legitimate Syrian license plate. I'll post the pictures in here when I get home again Also quite impressive Just thinking what the people must've thought about the guys who almost drove from Denmark to China...
my town i currently live in is pretty much a meeting spot for almost whole europe, these are all the license plates i saw ONLY in my town. green is "i spotted atleast one" and red is "i didnt spot even one"
Once saw an Alaska plate in New Jersey, but I never got a picture of it. Also saw a type of license plate that was last used in 2001 on a Mk5 Jetta.
i checked what region is it on the license plate, and it seems they have really far away from their home, region 02 is Almaty which is on the southeast part of kazakhstan. isnt that place already considered part of asia? it would be expensive every time to pass through 2 continents.
i looked further into their website, and it looks like they dont drive just to germany and back home. they drive through almost all of eurasia.
