Re: General discussion chat I get unbelievably car sick in the back of mini vans. It is absolutely horrible. Too much bounce for me.
Re: General discussion chat I've got a 2000 honda accord, I just need a license. Alabama has "meh" license laws.
Re: General discussion chat What age do you have to be for a license there? In Indiana you can get your license 180 days after your 16th birthday, but you can only drive with family members and/or guardians. You can't drive with other people until 17.
Re: General discussion chat in California you can get your license 6 months after you get your permit, and you have 50 hours of driving time (10 of which have to be at night) and even then you still have limits for 12 months (no driving between 11PM and 5AM without a licensed 25 year old, no minors in the car without a licensed 25 year old) the age for permit is 15 & 1/2 the age for license is 16
Re: General discussion chat Its the quadrocycles you really want to look out for: http://www.euroncap.com/results/quadricycles.aspx Those things are the very definition of unsafe. For example the seatbelt in the one on the video below broke. Oh, and did i mention that it was the second safest. There were two others that scored less. Worst: Second worst:
Re: General discussion chat Why would anyone want to drive that? It's tiny, you'd probably shit your pants every time you got close to a bus or a lorry.
Re: General discussion chat To be fair, I don't know when a golfcart will be hitting a wall at 50 km/h 15 years old: Eligible for learner license. You may now practice driving when supervised by a licensed driver at least 21 years old in the front passenger seat at all times. 16 years old: Eligible for restricted license (provisional license). You cannot drive between midnight and 6 a.m. unless: You are with your parent/guardian, or a licensed driver at least 21 years old who has been designated by your parent/guardian, or you are driving to or from school, work, church, or because of an emergency. You may only have 1 passenger other than your immediate family in the vehicle. You may not use a cell phone or any other handheld device while behind the wheel. 17 years old: Eligible for unrestricted license. 18 years old: Eligible for unrestricted license (no learner’s permit or restricted license required)
Re: General discussion chat That's literally a golf cart :/ Why the hell would you drive a golf cart on the streets?
Re: General discussion chat Tennessee is one of the most unrestricted states, it looks. You can get your permit at 15 and license at 16, but only after you've had your permit for something like 5 months and have 30 hours of driving or some shit. Minivans are awful. Underpowered with weak transmissions, FWD. Just terrible cars. - - - Updated - - - Because its an easy, fun way to get around. We rented a golf cart at the beach this summer. I was the designated chauffeur. Was awsum. Parents often told me I drove too fast, though. :\
Re: General discussion chat Genuine question Are most golf carts capable of doing 40mph? - - - Updated - - - Because on the worst one the seatbelt was badly designed. Instead of going around the lap the seatbelt went around the waist. This meant that in a crash it would destroy the passenger/drivers organs.
Re: General discussion chat Not even close. Your typical golf course golf cart usually tops out somewhere under 20. We had one like this, but it was green. A lot can go wrong at 17 mph when you have 250 pounds of people sitting behind the rear axle, though. Gotta compromise for a hell of a lot higher braking distances, and take turns quite a bit slower than you would if you were driving alone or just had 2 people up front. I remember one time, when the cart was packed full of people, I came up a bit fast to a stop sign on a road I had never seen anyone driving on. Rolled up till I could see around the trees and saw a pickup truck flying down the road. Braked hard enough to upset my mom. :| And some dick driving a minivan pulled out in front of me. That's a different story though. However, there are vehicles coming out that are capable of doing >40 but have pretty much the same safety features as a golf cart. None. Usually labelled as lsv's (low speed vehicles). Usually the only safety feature they have is seatbelts.
Re: General discussion chat They are really popular here in Finland, because you can drive them when you are 15.
Re: General discussion chat Most cars were capable of doing >40 and had only seat belts until the late 1980s/early 1990s. Safety costs money, and I think people should be able to drive these things, just link them to the NCAP videos first lol. Like anti smoking ads on cig packs.
Re: General discussion chat I have no problem with people driving them. They're only endangering themselves, and I don't think it should be up to the government to decide what's best for people. They're awesome. We plan to rent one again next year. We were looking at buying one, but kinda got sidetracked by firebird/crown vic. That rental one we had couldn't have been more than a few years old and it was already beat to shit lol. Bent wheel, someone also knocked it horribly out of alignment. Was still fun, though.
Re: General discussion chat you learn that every vehicle on the road is not just endangering itself but every other vehicle nearby. It may be a golf cart, but a larger car swerving to avoid it can do damage to other vehicles and I'm sure it can do damage to pedestrians and motorcycles. Anyway. Drove through McDonalds, "can I have a regular big Mac meal with a can't", " right, a regular big Mac meal, is that a large?", "as you just copied back, a regular", " sure you don't want a large?". Fuck you.
Re: General discussion chat Considering maybe getting a Police Interceptor from an auction, prices are insanely low for their condition, often around than $500 for a good condition high powered car.
