Early Experimental Preview of Career Concept

    Exciting News with the Release of Version 0.31!

    We're thrilled to share that Career Mode gameplay has taken a significant leap forward with the latest 0.31 release! While it's important to note that it's still a work in progress and not quite feature-complete, there's a whole new dimension of fun to explore.

    Now, you can dive into the world of deliveries, unlocking challenges that range from timed deliveries to fragile deliveries, and for the bravest, a combination of both with timed-fragile deliveries. Even though we're in the early stages, you'll already find yourself immersed in a "choose your own adventure" style of gameplay, reminiscent of the beloved Garage to Garage experience.

    While some tasks might seem repetitive at this stage, like the classic "bring bolts from location A to location B," rest assured, we have big plans to expand and diversify the delivery experience. The core system is now in place, allowing you to load visible cargo boxes onto your vehicles and pick up a variety of cargoes.

    Looking ahead, we're gearing up to introduce transporting construction equipment, handling fuel and other liquids, and more in the coming year. As we develop features like speed cameras, red-light cameras, and police gameplay, the delivery experience will become even more challenging and rewarding!

    In the meantime, enjoy the freedom provided by our rudimentary systems today. Just a friendly tip: be cautious with the cargo weight on your roof bars, especially when taking sharp turns. Disaster might strike if you're not careful! Stay tuned for more exciting updates and improvements.

    Snapshots of the current Delivery Mode UI/UX and a delivery vehicle with fresh repairs—primered, not painted. Loaded with cargo boxes, it's set for action outside Belasco City Garage! Currently, players can grab any cargo box and load up with goods. We'll be fine-tuning for a seamless, naturally progressing gameplay as we move forward.

    This is very close to the original idea behind the upcoming "Adventurer" branch gameplay! I had originally planned on having some sort of hidden arcade machines in tricky-to-find locations that the player could discover to unlock arcadey/adventurer gameplay from. It's tricky to try and make realistic gameplay, and also incorporate, "Now, race 200mph and jump 500 feet off the jump and land in the middle of the city — but don't worry, you'll live!" So the Adventurer branch was born instead and will consist of more, "Hollywood" or "Lens Flare Studios" style stunt gameplay, along with the aforementioned Havoc mode and more...

    Here's another shot featuring cargo boxes loaded into and onto my vehicle! Players can head to their garage, use the computer, navigate to "Purchase Parts," and choose the cargo boxes they want to use for delivery. In this vehicle, roof bars were added to carry the XL cargo box for hefty, high-reward cargo!

    While the parts selector is a work in progress, we're fully aware of its current limitations. Fear not! Big plans are in the pipeline to make it a smoother, more enjoyable experience. Stay tuned!

    Note: I have simply highlighted the cargo boxes in a photo editor, this isn't any sort of in-game highlighting feature.

    One question... Are other career maps, and traveling between them, in the development pipeline?

    And is it just me or is that primer shiny when it should be matte...

    The primer shouldn't be shiny, can you post a picture of what you're seeing please? Regarding the maps, at this time we are still heavily focused on the technology and foundational systems, so moving to other maps (or so much as considering it beyond "yeah for sure") is far down the line at the moment. We have had basic concepts working in the past with basic, "drive to the port and take a boat to Italy" or "go to the airport in Utah and take a plane to East Coast USA" etc. Some issues at the time were, "Well what if my cars in my garage in Italy.. and the car I want is in WCUSA?" and "What if I only play on Utah, but I need to beat challenges in Italy to get to a point in my game to unlock a new tier for gameplay in Utah?" and on and on. So it's understood to be something players want, and can add much more to it, but for now, we're focused on developing the career functionality within WCUSA as it provides all of the driving opportunities in one place! :)

    That's awesome, yeah it's been an awesome ride! The ideas from Castle Run were primarily: Make a big map, get AI to race, do some sort of AI championship where "it looks like Bluey the Covet won this race, lets put'm up against the next batch" and just pump out videos on youtube of Castle Run challenges.. on-road, off-road, mix, etc.. then got carried away with the underground high-speed tunnel, and the drag strips, and on and on and the end goal was: Make a sort of structured sandbox style of gameplay possibilities, and I guess in a sense that's what Career Mode is becoming! However, Career Mode is far more focused on player progression, challenges, rewards, etc.. so nothing too much to read into there I suppose. :) Was lovely to think back to it though, thanks!

    I'll only give one hint.. it's not in the code or really hidden at all! ;) It's just a cute nod to some earlier development.

    Oh the picture I posted, yeah the primered parts are that yucky yellow-beige-green primer colour, the shiny parts, were not replaced, as they weren't damaged or repaired. For now, if you damage a body part, it'll be primered when replaced, but you can pay a little extra to have body panels automatically repainted when the vehicle has been repaired.

    It's the forklift sticker, yup, do you see what represents? :D

    I thought the yucky yellow was stock, and grey was the primer... oops. And I just guessed because it was yellow and the only thing I could see different from the pictures.
    Forklift............................................................... UPDATE 0.32!?


    Either that or the power needed to lift someone's mom..... (not yours)

    I had to pull a speculation thread move just for funny, I had no idea what it meant, But that is kinda funny.
