We haven't gotten over a quarter inch of snow yet. There's still green grass here.

    OUCH !
I know that feeling. But look on the bright side, you actually got to enjoy your car for some time now, you sure as shit beat my record of 23 1/2 hours of fun till engine go ded

    IMG20220401142332.jpg IMG20220310130438.jpg

If you decide to stick at it, when you pull the engine, make sure you clean everything in the engine bay, you'll regret it later

But maybe your lucky and its just the head gasket ! Give it a try and rip the head off yourself and see what you can find, plus the less work any machine shop has to do is money in the pocket

If it’s just the head-gasket, that’s great! If it’s the block, I’m selling it and buying the ‘79 Marquis sedan.

That Ford would be a great buy, you certainly wouldn't have trouble finding parts (engine and trim wise) for it, plus you'd be able to do neutral drops in it ;) And less plastic to break too...

Yep, that's what I was thinking. It also has a big V8 (oh yeah), but still gets better mileage than my Eagle (20mpg to the Eagle's 16mpg). It's a bit nicer (condition), rides better, has more conveniences, and is a bit nicer-looking. It doesn't have 4WD, which is... okay, and the cargo area isn't as big (though the trunk is humongous). I love the color, too, and there's a lot more interior space (which is good for me, as I'm ~6'3"). It has a sweet front bench seat (which has armrests that are actually at the right height, according to Consumer Reports). I don't know. It's also cheap-ish ($5,000 + not much work besides new tires). The old tires mean I could maybe do a burn-out (most likely a one-wheel-peel, ha). There's even a CB radio with a giant trunk-mounted antenna. I don't know.

The price has been reduced... $5,000 buckaroos for a pristine '79 Marquis Brougham. I love Broughams. I could also ask the seller if he's willing to trade for my Eagle.

I think it's a bad idea to trade the eagle to a Grand Marquis, but it's up to you

Imo eagle is cooler, but it seems like less of a pain in the ass for you.

I know what you mean, but yeah, the Eagle doesn't have many parts available, gets 16mpg, and has a blown engine (that's the main one). I can find parts easily for the Marquis, and it gets 20mpg average combined.

because the eagle is more expensive than the Marquis, and it would not be a rational trade,
so it's better to sell eagle.

Well, the Eagle is worth a lot less right now, because the engine is blown (in terms of the head-gasket and a potentially cracked block), and the Marquis will cost me less in the long run.
