Invisible cars

    Hello. I have a problem.

    Most mod cars are invisible (yes I did get them here on the fourms.) :(

    The cars are there they have engine sounds, they move, and they make skid marks if you turn too hard they just have no model or textures.

    I use the experimental version but they don't work in non experimental either.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    AFAIK this is a problem with the experimental version. Some cars are not visible anymore in the experimental version of the game. AFAIK they have to be updated by the modders to work with the experimental version.

    Switch back to the stable version and you'll see the cars again.

    I guess I will just have to live with it then because there is no steam overlay in the non-experimental version.

    yes there is, experimental is just a beta version, and has nothing to do with steam (heck, you can run experimental without steam running by just running the beamng.drive exe instead of pressing play on steam)

    set steam beta on beamng back to stable, then use your usual steam overlay buttons :/ boom, you have steam overlay on stable

    When I press shift-tab to go to the overlay the overlay does not appear for me.

    I have no idea why. :(

    are you sure your launching the stable build from steam? if yes then make sure you have the steam overlay enabled in properties (it should be though if it works in experimental)

    Yes I am. I click "play" on the steam menu.

    And I do have the overlay enabled. This is the only game I have had problems with.

    No idea why it does not work. :confused:

    It would appear that beamng drive stable version does not realize that I am on steam while the experimental version does know it.

    I know this because the experimental version lists my steam username on the main menu and the stable version does not.

    that has nothing to do with it, as steam overlay works fine on stable for me (and many other people as well i imagine) so no idea whats up with your thing, have you tried deleting local content then re-downloading?

    To get it straight, until I reach some special status in THIS forum, I can only use the experimental version in Steam ?

    However, I still have questions regarding Steam version and beta-versions: how do I know what he is launching ? How do you upgrade ?

    it's a bug button RIGHT next to the "Forum" button at the top of the page

    seriously to not have noticed it you have to be pretty much blind

    I found a fix for the invisible car in the experimental version!

    This works for all of the cars that are invisible due to not having a DAE file (I did some looking around as to the cause of the problem.)

    I'm showing a fix for this car mod as it is a nice car rendered unusable by experimental version. DeClasse-Asea-GTA-V

    Ok first you go into the folder of the car you are applying the fix to (in this case the folder's name is "DeClasse_Asea" without the quotes.)

    then you find the .cached.dts file (in this case it's named "DeClasse_Asea.cached.dts" without the quotes) and make a copy of it in the folder.

    Once you have done that you should have a file named "DeClasse_Asea.cached - Copy.dts" without the quotes.

    Now rename it to "DeClasse_Asea.dae" without the quotes (we removed cached - Copy.dts for those of you who are fixing a different car.)

    And then you are done and the car should appear.

    now they updated the current version to run the experiemental features, what do i do now? do i just have useless cars until they are updated by creator?
