thanks for this! i have a batch lod maker script i made for blender to do all this for me. sence i dont wunna do 16k models haha just haveing issues with how to export and import into beam the right way, i export all as dae into there own folders so 1 object is in its own folder so around 16k difrent folders for there dae and textures thats how ive gotten it to work. but idk how to do this know with lod or were to even begin i have someone helping sometimes and ima wait for them to reply and all that. thanks for your help sugeshtion ill keep you in mined. also terrain will be made to what it is ingame like sand mettle rails and other. sorry for spelling.
This is the file structure within blender that handles which mesh is what LOD level. The higher number is the most detailed and lowest number the least detailed, i believe the number is the amount of pixels but i always mess around to find a suitable number for the desired distance to switch. This way you can have the model and all its LOD levels as one .dae file. Also multiple LODs. With terrain you cna look up a tutorial on how to make heightmaps in blender, just remove buildings and render a photo with the suitable settings. You can then use the terrain painter with the ingame world editor to give a brush the right texture, here you can also make sand act like sand.
o this would be dope! maybe later on ill take a look or msg you about it more, for know ill just make the ingame way to do sand partials and other how the game handles it. this is nice to know tho! thanks verry mutch!
I remember back when someone ported simply just the airport from Liberty city, and kept the rest in as background but low-poly versions. Back then it was fundamentally impossible to have imported the entire map and set it up in a state where it could run and be usable in game. Incredible to see the progress made to Beam since then and hope to see good things come for this map, to do something that several years ago was thought to be near impossible
i was thinking 1 will be the online spawn, the apartment will be a spawn, other's are up for pickings!
Perhaps by neighborhood or just bundle them into one area like for example; Upper Algonquin, Midtown Algonquin, Lower Algonquin, etc. Of course, points of interest and landmarks like Star Junction, Middle Park, Firefly Island, Happiness Island, Meadows Park and the sorts can work too.
yes when its time to do this tipe of work, ill stream and we can set the points were they should be so that we are all happy
Man one of my favorite games from back then! I dont know if its too early to tell, but will this map be demanding for a mid-range PC FPS wise?
as of right know it is, but having LOD being worked on so that its not. will hope to see 60 fps on my side if so then anyone with 8GB ram, should be able to play decently. but nothing is 100%
I know, but I think the map could do for a custom plate with customizable plate text with a more appropriate state slogan if I say.
Hopefully you could probably arrange some of the traffic signals in a more tidy manner after knowing how some can be very scrambled like this.
And my goodness, imagine trying to write street names on these types of signs for each intersection that has them.
still don't understand exporting/importing lod files or how they work [-_-] so for know i wunna make a part of the map playable for people. witch part of the map would you wunna play in? would be half of a island or so! dm me if you wunna do LOD's for this project. all map files ready for sending!
