But on a side note, you should never make mods with other people in mind – otherwise it will turn into a job instead of just a pastime or a hobby. If you create something, and you enjoy it, there's nobody to tell you that it is bad. And honestly, even if it's a meshslap, it doesn't mean you didn't put any effort in it (especially given that you came here with no experience), so why worry.

This mod might not be of the "highest quality" or whatever, but it looks fun and it's given you experience in making better mods down the line. I'm hoping it comes out sooner rather than later.

Well thank you for all being very supportive of me, I do very much appreciate it. And with that being said, I believe I have something very important to me to upload today, so excuse my prolonged absence, I'm most likely just either fixing some errors, thinking on what to say, or trying to make a formally done post.

See you in a couple of hours!

(Little fun fact, currently, I've took seventy-eight pictures in total of the car since the very beginning)

Most of this (basically everything) is copied from the original repo page.
Also, technically you'll be downloading the addon pack here because BeamNG Drive doesn't allow you to post repo mods with real badges on them.

Kind of like the Codename:"Oldsfullsize" mod.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4 long and moderately challenging months, I now present to you, the 1959 Satellite Lockheed.

    Background Information
"Based off" of the 1959 Cadillac Eldorado & Biarritz, the car has 14 relatively different variations and features a variety of customizations like removable chrome stripping, two-tone paint jobs and even a roll cage and derby bumper if you want! It's still in beta, so not all customizations you see on the configs menu will be available to the styling of the car. It also happens to have all-openable parts, such as doors, hoods, and trunks. The most interesting feature that I wanted to perfect on this car to make it more suited to BeamNG Drive was the proportions, so it feels like a real car from the late 50's. And with the cloud-like suspension, you'll have no problem with bumpy streets or winding roads either. You'll see that there are two different bodies, the hardtop and the convertible. If you want to change the roof in the configs menu, the 2-door hardtop body is the one with the roof and the 2-door sedan body is the convertible.

    Convertible Body

    Q. & A.
Q-Will you make a Meteor-Miller Ecto 1 version in the future?
A-I've considered making a Meteor-Miller model, at best a 4-door sedan, but an Ecto 1 could end up being a whole other project. The odds aren't 0 though.

Q-Are you ever going to update or improve the jbeam structure?
A-I'm not the best modder, and this is my very first non-automation car, so most likely not. I have already lined the jbeams very closely and I do not think they can be improved more by myself.

Fun Fact: Why the name "Satellite Lockheed"?
The reason why I choose this unfamiliar pseudonym, "Satellite Lockheed" is because throughout the 1950's automotive designers started taking styling and ideas from spacecrafts, rockets, and spaceships, which relates to the word "Satellite". And the connection between the car and the word "Lockheed" is that the '59 Eldorado was inspired by a jet called the Lockheed P-38 Lighting Fighter, which also in its own way, had large dual tailfins on the rear.

Things to Expect to Be Broken or Messed Up (Currently)
-Weird black square in the middle of both bottom taillights.

    -See-through parts, and unfinished parts.

There was also a problem with the interior glass textures on the front glass quarter panels and a random floating gauge needle by the bottom of the dash board.

These issues are currently being worked on, but it is kind of a beta and they're not too badly noticeable, so forgive me for the current inconveniences.

    Credits
Myself, for all the technical work, like putting the model into BeamNG Drive and making all the components work.

Unnamed Creator, for the free-for-use 3d model. (Unfortunately, the modeler's name has been lost because I cannot find or remember where I downloaded this, I just know it was free so thank you Unnamed Creator.)

Though this may not be the best quality mod, or maybe not even the best mod in general, it's still a good old car to drive, crash, and add into the traffic to give it some taste. So I hope you guys enjoy this car as much as I do. Happy Driving!

(DISCLAIMER, it's an unsimplified file, so it takes quite a while to download. Took me just about 40 minutes with an above average specs computer. Also, you'll need to move the mod file you downloaded to the mods folder manually.)

It's a giant boat that doesn't seem to handle as well as modern vehicles and overheats quickly, I absolutely love it. Seriously, this is going in my rotation.

First off, very nice work so far.

    As for this:
Might it have something to do with the model missing that square?

I think it may have been because originally it was supposed to be a backup light, like on the real car, and while the general area still functions as a backup light, it was meant to have the Bluebuck's reverse light texture. I'm sure something went wrong and it messed up, so it makes a weird black square (technically a trapezoid) in the middle of the bottom taillights. But I can just bridge the edges together and re-apply the taillight texture as a whole, so it shouldn't be hard to fix.

    And thank you very much.

I apologize if it's already known or mentioned, but none of the hoods aside from the normal one seem to appear. Otherwise, thank you for releasing this. I can't wait to see where it goes from here.

I just noticed the hubcaps or your car! Are they another mod, or already in the game somewhere? I like them a lot, and the whole car in general.

Sorry, my original response was deleted. To answer your question, some of the custom parts don't have a model, so they won't show up. I'm working on making the hoods now anyway, so they should be available soon.

For a first full car mod, it's pretty good!
    screenshot_2024-03-07_23-39-36.png

Of course, I could start listing all the issues, but I feel like most of them are already known/obvious, so instead I'll give my thoughts on why it wasn't approved on the repo.
1: I don't know if they have an actual policy on premade assets for the repo anywhere, it's kind of a gray area
2: Unfortunately, it uses the materials straight from the Bluebuck, which would cause conflicts and break stuff if that vehicle is ever changed or updated. The devs don't really like that. You also used the D-Series' main body material for the chrome, why?
3: Despite all the work put in, it's still technically a meshlap, and that along with various other issues might prevent it from meeting some quality standard they have. However, I've seen some pretty terrible stuff get approved on the repo so I don't know where that bar is if it exists.
