Yep. It's based on raising or lowering a water block. Here's the proof-of-concept: In this image, you can see a water block that has lifted a Flat Top Barge out of the ocean. There are blue and red striped "buttons" (lua triggers) off to the side that control the water block height. We can't build dry areas below sea level, but we can above sea level, and we have a means of controlling height.
The BeamNG.navy is now in control of the only functional dry dock in existence. It's only a prototype, and we'll need bigger dry docks for larger ships, but we now have the technology. Here's a barge moving towards the dry dock, where it will be repaired by the truck it's carrying: Here's the barge dropping off the truck. The truck will operate the lock controls: Here's the truck going up the ramp to the upper level, where the controls are: Here are the controls: Open Gate Close Gate Raise Water Lower Water For convenience, there are controls on both sides of the lock. The truck has operated the control to open the gate: The barge is in the lock, and the truck has closed the gate: The water level has been raised: The barge has been aligned with some prepositioned keel blocks: The water level has been lowered, and the barge has come to rest on the keel blocks: Now the truck can start performing repairs:
Simply brilliant! Great idea. Will you release this on the forums or the repository? Also, I just noticed we joined exactly a year apart.
The Tunnels of Italy currently exists only on my Google Drive: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1J5s_tWlxqFXOA8VFtWLK7laUaWuqr6n-/view?usp=sharing I keep it there because it's easy to update, and I update it regularly. Eventually, it will make it to the Repo. Give me a moment to update it with the dry dock and you will be able to download it. Updating... --- Post updated --- Just finished recompressing everything. I'm going to load it up to make sure nothing went wrong during compression... The ZIP file is good, and has been posted to Google Drive. The dry dock has some imperfections that you'll notice. I hope to be able to address those in due time. Also, be patient with the water level, it takes a little bit of time to pump that much water.
@HighBeam9000 Any idea on this? --- Post updated --- Also I made this USAF Low Visibility Livery, replace it with any livery you don't use because I have no idea how to add new liveries for it: --- Post updated --- Any progress?
No progress on the controller test cone. I got distracted. As far as the air wing info goes, we should all have some input, at least those of us who are carrier certified. Does everybody here have a recent carrier certification for at least one of the following aircraft: AN-12 ME-262 B-25 STOLide Officers with current certs may nominate a name for the air wing and other info, then we can vote for what we like. If you need to recertify, The Admiral has 2 carriers operating in the waters just north of Italy. You'll need Motorsports Playground for the carrier's textures. Otherwise you'll get the orange "No Texture" texture.
I'm gonna apply for Me-262 right now if the dude who did the first barge landing doesn't claim it first, I do have ac certificate of landing B-25 in motorsports playground itself. --- Post updated --- Also @HighBeam9000 do you know how to add liveries jbeam for the Me-262? I don't want to keep replacing old files --- Post updated --- Also is Tunnels of italy an addon for Italy or a new map? cant find it anywhere --- Post updated --- Nevermind I found it --- Post updated --- @HighBeam9000 I have the motorsports playground mod installed, but the carriers still don't have any texture. The 262 featured in the following link isn't any Me-262... It is an experimental aircraft developed by the USAF in the Grooved test range(A-51), having 2 Pratt & Whitney F-135-100 engines custom-built to be installed on the aircraft. These engines have 3 times the weight of the Jumo 004 engines installed on the original aircraft, therefore making it extremely overweight, but that isn't stopping the plane from having a theoretical top speed of 3500 km/h (1890kt/s or Mach 2.83). Pilots were told to never exceed 45% throttle once airborne and stop accelerating upon reaching 1350 km/h(728kt/s) due to the plane being extremely unstable at highspeed, just like how the germans predicted it. It is named: The F-262 "Blitz" II. The specific variant featured in the video is the F-262C-V1, fitted with speed brakes and other equipment for naval operations. Spoiler: View Incident_262_1a Incident 262-1a: The landing gears failed during the landing on the carrier and the pilot received minor head and leg injuries, he is currently resting in the onboard sick bay. Spoiler: View Addendum-262-1a Addendum-262-1a: The pilot complained to the Admiral about the interior of the ship, following attached is a transcript of their conversation: Code: <Start of transcript> *The Admiral enters the room* Admiral: "Hello there, how are you doing?" Pilot: "I'm doing alright, but WHY THE FUCK are there orange and black paint over the entire carrier? Do you guys have an advertisement contract with [REDACTED]??? It's giving me more sickness than the damn waves!" Admiral: "Hey hey hey chill out there Lieutenant! We just had some issues recently..." Pilot: "Huh? So what happened?" Admiral: "Well, we were testing some new technology the guys from A-51 gave us, it was apparently a camouflage system that automatically fits the surroundings to make the carrier virtually invisible, and it somehow turned the entire carrier like this..." Pilot: "Wait wait wait... I have overheard about it back at the base, I get how it works, but why the hell is it even painted on the interior??" Admiral: Well, apparently my officers made it sound really important and threatened the crew something bad would happen if they didn't properly paint the ship, I heard that some of the crew even painted their underwear with it..." Pilot: "What. The. Fuck. Who exactly gave you this stuff to test anyway?" Admiral: "This conversation is already above your rank and clearance, we really shouldn't be talking about it anyway. You are lucky I'm not gonna report this, so please stop asking." Pilot: "I know, it's not Day One for me here anymore, I won't ask what I shouldn't. <End of transcript> --- Post updated --- @HighBeam9000 Should I make a full glass cockpit for the 262? Like replacing the background image of the gauges to look more modern, not big screen
It's the DH HyperBolide with STOL conversion kit. Here's a link to my personal copy (STOLideRO-S): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1vQlMwnmbVrT7CSTF4uJw4UF6jBKzhVsC/view?usp=sharing --- Post updated --- I think I fixed the carrier textures: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1J5s_tWlxqFXOA8VFtWLK7laUaWuqr6n-/view?usp=sharing --- Post updated --- Building a canal would be just like building a dry dock, except with gates at both ends, and possibly with stepped lock levels, similar to the Panama Canal. --- Post updated --- …and the STOLide requires the Stunt Mortar for STOL support.
Test show that the CL-215 is incapable of carrier operations, could be solved by adding naval modifications. --- Post updated --- Suggestions: 1. make an Anphibuis AN-12 by adding pressure rooms to the floats(I might do this myself). 2. Add gears with realllyyyy long travel for the An-12 for carrier ops and VTOL 3. Experiments with a VTOL system by customizing the Stunt Motar to rotate and pitch an aircraft in the air and control the hover by axis.
I can make you a custom ground crew livery for any car if you want --- Post updated --- @HighBeam9000 I think it would be fitting for us to move this thread over to the Air section, that way more people would be able to see and contribute to this thread.
@HighBeam9000 I think it would be fitting for us to move this thread over to the Air section, that way more people would be able to see and contribute to this thread. I can try making it. Need tips tho
I found the perfect mod for an aircraft carrier https://www.beamng.com/resources/dash-plate-speed-boost-trap.30193/ It can be used as a catapult and a arresting cable
HOLY CRAP HOW DID I FORGET ABOUT IT I THOUGHT ABOUT THIS THE DAY BEFORE YOOOO IT CAN ALSO BE USED AS AN ARRESTING CABLE!!!
Btw you need to lower the boost to negative in order of it to work --- Post updated --- Actually after some testings: The speed booster resets the speed of the vehicle, so if I set it to 0 kph, then the plane will go static upon contacting it. The most realistic solution is around 36 kph. --- Post updated --- @Duh anime addict Watch the results
I was thinking of 2 where for realism there's one at the back which sends the vehicle at 50-ish kmh and then there's one in front at a short distance that sends it 11 kmh back to simulate snagging.
