There was one year, probably between 2007-2009, that our area (central-southwestern Missouri) was hit by a practically apocalyptic ice storm. The roads were treacherous, it being unsafe to exceed ~20 MPH if you didn't want to lose your grip, and downed trees spaced every ten miles or so. Power went out almost instantly. Some unlucky families had the old kind of wiring, the one where the power enters through the attic, and the ice yanked the wires so as to spark fires in multiple houses. I can recall sitting out on our porch at eleven at night, and every thirty seconds or so, you'd hear the distant crash of a tree collapsing under all the weight. At the end of it all, some people were without power for months. For us, though, it was only a few days. I vaguely recall local politicians starting to advocate for underground wiring in the days following.

All things considered, a little rain is hardly the worst to be expected of winter weather.

The FX is a better CPU, but the Pentium will save you $100 when upgrading. It really depends on how long you plan to keep it, if it's over a year go for the AMD.

And the AMD performs really well. 3 cars in Beam, massive amounts of video editing, and FL Studio haven't fazed it.

Seeing as how AMD refuses to upgrade their FX line which is starting to show its age, I'd probably go for the Pentium. Sure, the FX is better, but newer Pentiums are unexpectedly powerful.

But it's still a Pentium. You can't have your specs in your forum signature, because it says Pentium.

    only thing i'll say

the pentium g3258 can be overclocked the shit out of, you can even get a decent overclock on STOCK cooling

so add the quite cheap for it's performance hyper 212 evo, and just imagine the kind of overclocking you can get (quite a few people actually got it to 4.6ghz on a 212 evo)

it really depends on what you like to play though

if you play a LOT of beamng, you may have a better experience on the pentium (just no more than 2 cars, and definitely not running the t75)

if you mostly play normal games though then the fx cpu will be better

But it has Pentium in its name. NetBurst killed the Pentium name forever.

Has anyone else here seen Interstellar? I just saw it this last weekend and it was pretty awesome. Also, they use an organ in the soundtrack, so it must be amazing.

I've seen it. Great movie. Everybody said it was confusing, but it was actually pretty easy to understand. Of course, there's no way of visually picturing a spatial fourth dimension, since our space is three-dimensional, so anything related to the fourth dimension will be confusing.

    Also TARS ftw

I'd get the FX for this reason alone.

I will still always love Pentiums. I owned 1 of them back in the day, a Pentium P54CS 200MHz, and I still have le Dell kicking strong. (specs in sig)

    they are fine cpu's

i doubt most people even know what netburst is, let alone that it was horrible

also if you still think that the extra performance in beamng and overclocking ability isn't worth it because of a name:

    CALL IT SOMETHING ELSE THEN

such as "Intel g3258" instead of "Intel Pentium g3258"
