This looks amazing! i dont mean to force this but i think it would be pretty cool to have opening doors!
Dont know if this is still being worked on but i use the wagon version as my beam default and i was alittle upset it didnt support the adas backup camera is there any way to add that?
"not sure if the Polestar has exhaust bypass valves IRL" It does not, rarely any cars ever do due to emissions and laws. Some cars have speakers that play engine sounds louder in sport mode, though, notably modern Mustangs and Dodge cars. "AWD system, IRL it's a gen 5 Haldex system that only engages the rear wheels when it detects slip and I think either the rear or both diffs are LSDs, in game it has a viscous center diff and open ones front and rear" I don't think the original mod maker is gonna dedicate dozens of hours to making the AWD system as realistic as possible, considering the quality of the mod (no disrespect) "I think there's a couple wheel designs missing" There are, but that's okay. I don't really understand why people have this urge to critique a mod as if it were made by an entire team of people trying to push the boundaries and make the most realistic mod ever made. Clearly it's not dev quality, so why ask for super specific and negligible features (that most people wouldn't even notice) that just consume the time of the developer when time could be better spent elsewhere?
oh damn its already been a year since i last updated this, I do want to update this mod, and fix the little errors, and improve on it. Havent had the time or real want to sit down and touch it at the moment. I honestly have no idea how openable doors work in this game, which is why I haven't added those yet. The loud exhausts depending on the mode were more of a fun thing, I was aware that it isnt "realistic" when those were made.Nothing wrong with critiquing my mod, or any mod, because thats how I know what to improve, or work on. This mod was mostly made by me, with the help of a few friends, no team, but not just all me. A digital gauge cluster for the facelift model of the car is finally in the works, along with some material improvements. I did skip out on a few wheel designs because they looked like a pain to model, but I don't remember which they were.
I honestly thought you had died. I meant no disrespect, when I was critiquing the critique of the AWD, system, by the way, I was just trying to say I can't imagine any mod author spending tons of hours making something most people probably wouldn't even notice. Good to know you're still alive, though, and I'm really glad to hear you're working on an update, because it is an excellent mod. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with, because as it stands it is a really neat mod but ironing out and fixing some of those details would make it a lot better :3
I'm not saying it's a bad mod, just listing a few things I think should be added if possible. Muffler bypass valves aren't that uncommon on sporty cars, I know the recent Mustangs and the Hyundai N models have them for instance. They don't affect emissions, only noise. They wouldn't need to "dedicate dozens of hours" to the AWD system, I don't think it would be very hard to use a modified version of the one from the Scintilla or maybe the Vivace or Sunburst (pretty sure Clutchex is the Beam version of Haldex)
Dude... no..... muffler bypass valves are illegal in literally almost every state... You're thinking of bypass valves for the intake, AKA a blow off valve, even the newest 2024 Mustang does not come with an actual exhaust bypass valve that bypasses mufflers from factory, because in pretty much every state, the laws say "no person may use a muffler cutout, bypass, or similar device upon a motor vehicle on a highway." Even if it's installed from factory, it's illegal af. And, noise is emissions.. that's another thing, noise counts as emissions because loud noises are unpleasant to the average person.
It's been one year since the last time the S60 mod got updated. Don't worry, the mod has not been abandoned; progress has been slow due to me and Spiicy being busy with other things in mind. I want to thank everyone for their comments and feedback so far, we appreciate them! With that out of the way, there have been some WIP changes made within the past several months. Given that I originally made it years ago before Spiicy revamped it, it would be fair for me to contribute as much as I can whenever I have the time. To compensate for the lack of updates, here are the following changes I've made in no particular order: First of all, to address the elephant in the room, the digital gauge cluster found on the facelift model is finally being implemented! This was one of the highly requested features since the initial release, and it's safe to say it has been done for the most part! Many of the basics are done, including a tachometer, digital speedometer, fuel gauge, and automatic gear indicator. That being said, it isn't implemented in the same way as with other digital gauges found on vanilla vehicles like the Vivace or Scintilla. In other words, there will be limitations as to what can be done with a combination of Lua, props, and glowmaps. There are still some rough edges to sort out, but overall, this implementation will suffice for the time being until a proper digital gauge cluster can be done with HTML and all in the future. Next, I added the correct 19-inch wheel design for the facelift R-Design. The Ixion II design effectively replaces the old resized Ixion I design for those models; the 18-inch Ixion I remains available for the pre-facelift R-Design. The mesh comes from Need for Speed: Edge, adapted to the mod with some material and mesh changes. And finally, the model has been revised a bit to fix some mesh and shading issues that are present in the current public build. Some materials are also tweaked a bit; more importantly, the rear turn signals and reverse lights on the S60 now glow bright as with the rest of the lights. Those are all of the changes done up to this point; I have a roadmap on what will be addressed next. I will attempt to implement pre-facelift diesel gauges with the appropriate tachometer (in both base and R-Design variants), while Spiicy may work on a few more wheel designs for more variety if and when he has the time. After that, me and Spiicy will consider incorporating some of the community changes and feedback that have been provided. These include additional exterior and interior customization options, skin support, improved engine torque curves, drive mode tweaks, and revisions to the Haldex AWD system. Openable panels, animated interior props (pedals, stalks, shifters), cargo load options, and detailed mirrors are being discussed at the moment, but no guarantees that they will be done. In addition, as much as we would like to add the analog facelift gauge cluster, a right hand drive conversion, a proper plug-in hybrid powertrain, certain Volvo safety features, and racing variants like the STCC and V8 Supercar, those would take up additional time to bring to fruition, so those will be excluded for the time being. While it is far from a perfect mod, the S60 project has been a fun experience for me, Spiicy, and everyone involved. We still won't charge a single penny on the mod, so updates will be free for everyone on the forums. As always, please avoid downloading unofficial copies on third-party websites, since certain individuals still claim this mod to be theirs (it's not). The next update will be available when me and Spiicy believe it is ready for the public, which I am hoping for a release within the next month or so. Thank you for your patience and support
I have many gauge faces of the analogue facelift cluster (manual, automatic, mph, kmh, diesel, gasoline, eco and fuel gauge and the lcd speed screen background) and the diesel prefacelift clusters. I could supply them to you if you would be interested.
https://www.hyundaiusa.com/us/en/ve...riable exhaust valve system with dual outlets https://www.ford.com/cars/mustang/f...he available active valve performance exhaust https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jagua...over 3,000 rpm to intensify the sound profile. Most modern cars have 2 or 3 mufflers, active exhaust systems usually only bypass the last one; I'm pretty sure it's legal as long as the exhaust goes through at least one muffler. Sometimes on cars with dual or quad exhaust tips, only one side is used unless the car is in sport mode. I wouldn't call a blowoff valve "a bypass valve for the intake," it just vents excess boost pressure to prevent compressor surge/turbo flutter. I think the factory ones in most cars don't vent directly to atmosphere and so don't make any noise, and the ones that do just make a whooshing sound when you let off the throttle, they don't make the exhaust/engine sound louder. Turbo cars also have wastegates, which I guess are technically a form of exhaust bypass valve, they allow the exhaust to go around instead of spinning up the turbine in order to control the boost level and turbo speed. (The Mustang GT is naturally aspirated and has neither). There is such a thing as a variable-length intake manifold, where each cylinder has 2 intake runners of different lengths, with the shorter one being closed off at low RPM to improve low-end torque and efficiency, but they don't affect noise very much and aren't very common these days now that everything is turbocharged and has electronic VVTL. Noise pollution is a thing, but a normal person wouldn't refer to it as emissions.
I'm not gonna continue this conversation because it's OT and the mod was just updated, but I learned something new here  :sackboy_thumbs_up: Thought you meant bypass the mufflers entirely, which from everything I've heard is a big no-no.
I did make an Unmarked British varient but it needs some serious work before I could make it public, plus I need to figure out who's Lighting I took it from so I would also need permission from them too. Here's a video of what I did (Please note this was done just over a Year ago and hasn't been touched since)
