I feel like the one worst argument in these dumb paid mod debates is the "Well there's other people on Patreon that are selling $20 meshslaps" argument. I think the thing that many people forget is that this problem is not exclusive to the BeamNG community. There's also GTA modders doing the same thing, along with many other games. And, as other people have pointed out, modding has become harder, and quality standards have risen. You could show a person a mod from ~3 years ago and they would say "WhY doEs iT nOT hAVe PbR" or "WhERe OpeNaBLe DoORS" and stuff like that. Anyway, my personal list of mod creators would be: Inn0centJok3r (creator of the Gavril Vertex and Sapphire GT7) Theo and Finn Wilkinson (creators of the Procyon Centauri and Hirochi CCF) bob.blunderton (creator of Roane County, Virginia and Los Injuros) Nekkit (creator of Bock B50 and Ibishu Serenity) LucasBE (creator of Gavril Scout and Cherrier Picnic) LJ47 (creator of Gavril Dynamo and co-creator of KLJP) Kueso (creator of KLJP and Ibishu Saga) However, with that said, it is highly unlikely that any of these creators would accept any requests or commissions, because they are all currently quite busy working on other mods or fixing their existing ones. You can always try however, but be polite.
Yeah, I wouldn't argue for those effort-less mods that aren't much more than slapping meshes on dev-made jbeams, I think nonetheless that modding is in fact something accessible to everyone, anyone can learn to make mods, it is just that making something that's high-quality requires a wide skillset. I think though that it should remain something that is made by humans, not by AI.
I think techevvy for this touge maps and Track Broseff for his gameplay oriented mods (touring cars, rally, missions on his maps) have to be mentioned as well!
Ok, let me put things back on track with my original reason for this post. The best, silly, OG... good ol' boys runnin from the law, trying to bootleg some beer... car movie. Ever. This is a video I made with a car I modified in AC, on a limited rally track with AI police cars running slow enough to look like they were chasing me while I was overdriving the hell out of the car to make as much movie smoke as possible...that "sort of, kind of" captures what I would love to see in a good sim. Imagine that in BeamNG, with it's huge open maps and pursuit mode.... truck and trailer models (all that is needed is a skin for that iconic truck/trailer; Google it... there is a million pics of it.), and a good 77' "BAN ONE" Trans Am model. The racing/pursuit/delivery scenarios from there are endless. My old ass could die a happy man ... living out those back road chases that I laughed at over 40 years ago. And I bet a whole bunch of younger people that have no idea what I'm referencing here would go dig up that movie and add a couple of very good hours to their life.
I mean, there is this mod. Don't know if it still working though after the T-Series remaster https://www.beamng.com/resources/smokey-and-the-bandit-dry-van-skin.1518/
My argument here is the fact as versions of beamng get released the mod quality deminishes. Taking the fact .22 had its pbr update and .28 had openables. Older and paid mods have to continue updating or they wont work. Personally paid mods i just ignore them and usually get free mods instead I think for what mod creators do then their mods should atleast be paid. Sent from my S24 Ultra
@DrowsySam @TrackpadUser @fillman86 are the ones that immediately come to mind for me, there are others out there but you know, I have been on this forum for 10 years and I have seen modders come and go, there was one from the early days Darren94 but hes no longer on this forum anymore sadly
uhh me cuz im cool and awesome and you should really see how awesome and cool and great i am :sunglas:
haha I appreciate being included, but my mods are more about the fun of creating them in videos, and I have only had time to polish a few mods. So I wouldn't put myself on this list
Or just any modder that has any of their mods end up on The ultimate BeamNG mod list tbh. --- Post updated --- Fillman has really good talent in Jbeam programming as well as blender modelling (which his skills definitely exceed mine) but he can definitely bring more time for polishing while featuring his progress on his channel.
can't forget about AX53 for all the stuff he did, him and LJ were amazing back in the day (200bx Rocket Bunny kit vs the D1 pessima, it was the best), shame ax53s mods are somewhat outdated now [still using them tho]
Overpower: segra is ultimate Stoat mouldoon: too many to list SergentFido: american boat pack Ar162B: again too many to list Machine: wheelie great Mythbuster: many of the first mods that were top notch B25mitch: great maps, tutorials and other mods List could go on and on, many early modders that were recruited and ended up working at Bng turning developers.
