    Fantastic, that's just awesome!

Useful V-speeds? Just keeps getting better. :)

I wonder if a person could make a slider for throttle, that way we wouldn't have to use z-x to shift for power settings.

Yeah, how to control the throttle has been something I've spent a lot of time thinking. Being this an aerobatic aircraft, I think it's mandatory to be able to change the throttle quickly and easily. And I haven't found yet a succesful way.
But I don't think an on-screen slider would be a solution. Though I will definitely think about it.

CarlosAir doesn't seem to mind. Besides he probably has something better to do rather than reply to "We need download" "When beta" , etc :p

    Re: Aerobatic Aircraft (Name Pending)

So it's been some time since the last time I posted something here :p. Here you have a (partial) list of the changes:

    Cockpit work:

    • Added a functional VSI.
    • Added working pedals (linked to the rudder and the tail wheel)
    • Added working throttle lever
    • Added Amp meter and added 2 fuel gauges (center & wing tanks). None of them functional atm, but I'm hoping to make the fuel gauges work.
    • Added pitch & mixture controls. Not functional.
    • Added many other cockpit details
    • General textures improvement. And made proper normal maps.

Some Blender renders: (because we all know they make things look better than they actually are ;P)
    render29.jpg render30.png

As you might see, I am working too much on some areas of the cockpit, that's because I spend 90% of the time in the cokpit view, so I want to make it quite detailed, and make as many elements and gauges as possible work and interact like they should, hopefully bringing a lot of immersion.

    Texture work:
    • I've recently been working on external textures (not finished yet). A kind of simple livery, but still looks pretty neat :p. And fully supports color section:
    screenshot_00079.jpg screenshot_00082.jpg

    • Worked a little bit on external normal maps (rivets etc...)

    Custom throttle system:
So, I've had to work on making a custom throttle system, so I don't need to depend on using inadequate car-like variables. The variable for the throttle is a number ranging from 0 to 100, so the engine is extremely flexible and controlling it is way easier than you might think. It is very easy to select precise throttle lever positions while still being able to make quick and agressive throttle changes. No need to mess with Q, Z, X keys anymore to try and change engine power :p.

    Custom Sound:
-Thanks to the independent throttle variables mentioned above, I've been able to make use of custom sounds, whose pitch and volume is modified depending on the throttle lever position and engine rpm's. The sound files themselves (.wav files) are still provisional, I'm trying to find more high quality ones, but I've had no luck so far :p. But I already have all the coding part of the sound working, so It would only be a matter of changing the .wav files later on. Please contact me if you know of any high quality propeller/engine loop sounds free to use that would fit nice :p.
Check out the video below to hear the custom sounds working :p.

    Other Stuff:
    • Some work on the engine:
    render31.png

    • I've succeeded in making the white air-show smoke work without modifying any game default file! Yay! This smoke system can be easily toggled on an off with a simple key press. So, this feature will most probably be included in the release.

    • Yeah, ejection seat, because why not:[webm=]http://www.beamng.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=48652&stc=1&d=1418929327[/webm]
And a black smoke always starts coming off the engine a couple of seconds after any ejection, because why not :p

    • MANY other improvements have been done, but can't be listed, and I'm probably forgetting many other things.

    Naming:
I find ridiculous that I still haven't named this at this stage :p. It's been some time since I decided not to call this an Extra, I have my reasons :p. I want to think for a name of some imaginary company. Maybe something like Seneca. What do you think? And no, I'm not associated with Piper at all :p. But I think it fits nice. I dunno.

    TODO:
    Many stuff.

    vv IMPORTANT vv
No. It's not ready for a release, and I wont be making beta releases just because you ask. So don't fill the thread with posts asking for a release.

It indeed looks great, and kind of flies great, but it crashes very badly. It might certainly look like the plane is perfectly ready to be released, but that's because I've not posted images of the plane having a serious crash. And the very few crash screenshots and videos I've posted, have been carefully picked and selected as the ones where the plane has performed and looked better after the crash. Or have been taken from far or weird angles so you don't see. That's how marketing works ;). If I had posted all the images of the plane I have taken after a crash, you would be looking at this with very different eyes. But I'm just posting the images and videos where the plane looks best :p
So, because I find jBeam improvements a very complex matter, I'm just letting it for the end. And before that happens, I'm going to finish all modelling and texturing first.
And I want also to make clear, that I don't know if it's close to finish, so just be patient, it could be weeks or months.. Idk.

I get why you don't want to beta release, some people don't get the meaning of unfinished.

It's really cool of you to come and post this somewhat huge update though.
